Let's face it. Nothings going to be different until the fans rebel. Financially, the Leafs are one of the most profitable franchises in the NHL. The corporation that owns them (Maple Leaf Enterprises, or whoever) don't give a shit about winning the Stanley Cup. They just care about the $$$$$. Why should they sped more money if they are raking it in as it is? And the Toronto fans, stupid as they are, keep giving their dollars to MLE year after disastrous year. And nothing is going to change until the fans say "That's enough" – which of course they won't do. What they'll say instead is, "Oh yeah! Wait till next year". I should open a car dealership in Toronto and sell the worst car I can find. I'd probably make a fortune!

When Leafs were up 3-0 in game 3 I admit I was thinking of May 3, 1987 where leafs lost game 7 to Red Wings after leading series 3 games to 1.
As a fellow leaf fan, I feel the pain. Time to take at least a decade away from the leafs. We are heading into the dark, dreary and dismal Ballard years.
Considering these pro athletes take up for one another after every big sports scandal, I too am skeptical about the Panthers' pity for your Leafs.

I think Tampa might take a run at getting Marner. They have enough cap space if they deal Bjorkstrand, who is on a $5.4 million per for the next 2 years along with another $4 million in cap space when it goes up.
