Zito did miss on Tippett and getting Seth Jones wasn’t the issue, it’s possibly overpaying in a trade for him. Blackhawks wanted out of Seth Jones, Stars were the rumored only other team that was mentioned and word is they communicated that they weren’t interested. Panthers gave Knight and a first for a player Blackhawks didn’t want any more. I think Blackhawks retained like 30% of his contract. For a young goalie in Knight and a first, I expected more in return than Jones and 30% retention. The deal was good, just not great. The Tippett trade was horrendous.
