Two years ago the series was actually painfully close despite being a sweep. This series is not. even. close.

I’m with you, Florida looks crazy good. Yeah, maybe Toronto is way better than we thought. Florida’s forecheck is ridiculous, Carolina looked completely overwhelmed. Florida is in their head big time. I think the Canes will actually be better in game 3 on the road, but will probably still lose. This series is over.
yeah, the regular season fools us… many of us thought it would be a competition, that it was open with no one dominating, Florida is showing why they are the defending champions. This team is playing their best when it counts

Panthers are doing the same thing the Canes did to the Caps.. they are dogged and pursuing the puck at every second. Also, their forwards are in sync to cover when the defenseman pinches in. And as you pointed out in the other video, there's a lot of really top tier talent on every Panther line.

Carolina was supposed to steam roll Florida. Maybe that's all it takes to win against a stronger opponent with hockey teams being so close to each other in talent during the playoffs. We shall see. If Florida crushes them in game 3, then there's some systemic issues (like not evolving their gameplay, lines etc) that even a better team cant overcome.
Florida is making them look like its a wildcard team and not one of the top 4 teams this year (seeding blah blah but yaknow) its scary how dominant they are right now in these first two games and them seemingly getting better as they go is terrifying especially when you imagine the other series is going to go long, this smells like a sweep sadly, but Florida did lose at home to Toronto so maybe it gets interesting.

Why would you say Tampa was the second best team in the East? The Panthers destroyed Tampa but the Leafs had a 7 game series.
Clearly Panthers are #1 but it would be silly to say the Leafs havent been their best opponent yet.
Toronto's inability to finish off these Panthers is definitely having a significant impact on who ends up winning this Cup.

Here's an idea. The refs should start giving out delay of game penalties for teams who waste time on the icing call. That would get them to hurry up a bit and improve their short term memories!
Looks like we're just witnessing a new dynasty here. And I don't think they will make any major changes to the team in the off-season, so I see this assumption as more than legitimate.
I just started watching hockey again after a long time and it's honestly crazy to see how many teams just completely collapse at a stiff breeze, no resiliency at all. I don't know if it's because teams are so much younger now and don't have the mindset, but it's been kind of miserable to watch at times.

I'm 68. When I played you could only achieve this level of shutdown with excessive amounts of holding, hooking, slashing, and interference. Hockey today is SO much more skilled and entertaining than when I was younger!!!

Nobody should be surprised by this, Carolina is only here because the Metro is the weakest division in hockey. The 3 best teams in the conference were Florida, Tampa, and Toronto, the team going to the finals was always going to be 1 of those three
I knew FLA was too physical for CAR to handle (and prevail) in the series preview video. But even so, I think we all thought the games would be closer. Also, just an observation, once the Canes play an elite goalie, their shot volume game just isn't as effective (Bob, Vasi, Shesterkin). Obviously not a lot of shots for them in this game, but historically that's the pattern. Panthers in 6 now looks like it'll be luck to get to GM5.
