Wonder who they are going to trade to free up more cap?
I'm glad they kept Foote in any capacity. He was one of the best stay at home Ds of his generation and Quinn Hughes likes him. My guess is that Adam would have left, either for a head coaching job elsewhere or as an assistant under Tocchet in Philly. That could have played in Rutherford's decision to offer him the job. Quinn has made it clear he wants to play with his brothers, and the only chance they have of keeping him past his current contract is keeping him happy as much as possible. Say what you want about Manny, but he hasn't been an assistant coach with the big club. He isn't as familiar with the systems or the players like Foote is. If this team was a contender, I'd say find a big name coach. The problem is that there's a lot of turmoil with the club and everyone around the league knows it. You're not going to get a coach like that to come here. Rutherford has to get this team back to respectability. Quennville for example wasn't coming here.

Wish foote would have went with tocchet. This will be same results as tocchet. Last in league in goals, shots, powerplays. The team does need some serious upgrades in skill and speed. Maybe if those things happen it looks different but im not holding my breath for those to be addressed or it to look dofferent even if it does.
Don’t let the kids go willander petterson Hughes and Mancini could become a solid top four keek hronek and big bird trade Marcus Petterson . Then you need to beef up the team sign Boeser and trade garland and Hoglander they don’t outscore there size deficiency, you carnt have numerous small players if you want to win a cup. If you want to be bold and he as any value left you could also trade Demko.

If you go to the club house you need to do the yard stick.
Let Rutherford walk if needed, trade Pettersson and Hughes, and rebuild. This team isn't playoff ready, the stars aren't scoring when they need to, and the whole thing is a soap opera. Fresh blood is needed.
Honestly, the Canucks should hit the reset button. They finally have a decent crop of youngsters emerging across different positions…
Hughes is not going to stay.
They should slowly trade off veterans and EP40 and Hughes and gradually build assets to further bolster the youth depth.
Trading any of these young guys for one, maybe two years of trying to get a playoff birth is a fools errand.
If they “go all in” again it will set the team back another 3-4years (again)

We need players like Austen Crouse, hard players that can play and preferably ones with size and some speed but all the good teams grab those players up. We have some talent but we don't have those type of players and it makes it hard to play down the stretch if you get to beat up by those kind of players. Even Olivier on Columbus can play hockey. Both Foligno brothers are the type we need. Of course I think they both are getting long in the tooth, but players like that. And it seems Vancouver has never really gone that route. We did have Gadjovich but was to raw of a player for us to use him much when we had him plus he gained at least 15 pounds since then also. Now after years looks like a useful player. Plus those types are a lot cheaper to acquire. Less to give up. You would think there would be more emphasis to develop that kind of player. Kane and Bennet are prime examples. As a center Marchand is super hard and nasty. Jokingly send players to some of the toughest prisons in the US to train on how to get hard.
STOP trying to run the team. No one trades the youth that is coming up. Gods, how ignorant can people be? Wait for free agency RFA and UFA ans see what is there.
