The Panthers are scary and mighty but I can't help thinking that they look scarier than they are because they played against weaker opponents in their brackets. They look amazing because the Canes are also not great. Anyone else? I think Las Vegas or Winnipeg would have been a better opponent for Florida in terms of strength comparison.
Rod is going to wear out his welcome in Carolina really soon. 15 straight conference loses? Wow tough to hear that. Kinda glad vgk don't have to play Panthers this year. Savor our cup win over them.

With 1-8 playoff seeding we would have got this matchup in the first round instead.

Carolina is just good enough to beat up on shitty teams like the washington washed-ups and the devils, they don't have what it takes to take on actual contenders. That's why they're winless in the past 4 ECFs. They have NOBODY that can match up against any team's best players and they will be in a world of pain when the Rangers come back to snuff them out earlier again. At least their twitter is run by a sassy gay man though!
Toronto saying we want Florida 8:00 and we want the cup before the series is even started. 3-0 on the ECF is definitely the earliest point you can do that

Not a fan of either team. So many times Florida starting sh*t and coming away with a powerplay. Tkachuk literally mugging Aho from center ice to the corner and no call. Call it destiny if you want but the reffing in this series has been f'd.

I choose to look at the bright side of things and the good news is that I won't have to spend a lot of money on a Stanley Cup Finals ticket to watch my Canes. GG Florida, I really thought this years Cane's team was better than 2 years ago and I was absolutely wrong. They've destroyed my Canes and I don't think they will ever recover from this. 15 lost ECF games in a row is crazy, Statistically speaking even the worst NHL teams could have won at least 1 game by now. Another year another sweep, and I can tell you it's not Rods fault. This is 100% on the players.
I think Dallas would get smoked in 6 or less, Edmonton only has a chance because that team just seems to have some weird sort of magic that lets them get it done. But yeah, my leafs don't look quite so terrible now lol.

As a die-hard Panthers fan, even after winning the cup, its nice to finally see so many people acknowledging how unreal this team is. The culture is so fun to watch and considering how terrible all of our other sports teams are, it's been nice finally watching my team win.
The only team in recent memory that felt as dominant as Florida was Colorado a couple years ago. It just felt inevitable that they'd win the cup, and it feels that way with the Panthers.

Man, the Hurricanes can't get over the hump.
The Canes are a system team, carried by their coach. They rely on relentless puck pressure, volume shots, scoring by committee. It's a great regular season formula.
They can't win in the 3rd round because any opponent they meet in that round almost always has an elite sniper or two, which the Canes lack, AND/OR probably has a better goalie than Freddie.
Also, even at their best, they're not going to outwork a team like Florida.
I was truly surprised they beat the Caps, for all these same reasons.

The 76-77 Habs were amazing. I think they only lost 1 game in the playoffs.
Panthers have downgraded Carolina to a tropical storm.
The 'Canes, with there abundant amount of cap space, have to get some serious scoring, and toughness, to get to the finals. This was a semi rebuild year, but the flaws still exist. This will be a different team next season. Burns and Orlov likely are gone; shoulld they buy out Jasperi Kontaniemi? He is not giving them enough scoring at the center position. They obviously want to get a big time scorer for the playoffs, but last year Guentzel fizzled, and Rantanen sulked in his brief stay.
They also have a good culture on the team and it's not a terrible place to live.
