If Gardiner Macdougall isn't being considered for a NHL HC job I just don't understand why. Nobody has a track record of success like this man does. It must only be because he doesn't want to coach Pro's and prefers moulding younger guys.
I'm with you DK. I don't think this would be a good hire. As someone who isn't a Dubas fan or his decisions, I will just say this (and this isn't advocating for Smith I think it will be a bad hire) But sullivan was a retread who then changed the game.
A side note, what was great about the 2016 Penguins is they didn't try to emulate any team, they forged a new path, that then other teams copied. I hope the Pens don't try too hard to be the Caps from how did they did things to even how they may play.
Good day DK. My rant is moot. I want to expect our team to win every night again. No more blowouts. No more losing 2-0. A coach who can outsmart the other coach. I want lines play differently to confuse the other team. Eddie O didn't last long. That was OK. If our new coach is not Scotty B, we get rid of him and find someone who is.

Smith or Love I'm indifferent to who they hire, I think the good thing about Smith at least is he's a really good moral guy and has success developing Brady, Stutzle, Batherson ect. I just think the difference between Smith and Love from a hiring perspective would be how far a long Dubas believes this rebuild to be. If they think this is gonna be a 5 year + kinda thing then DJ Smith is the guy you probably go with

Not sure I agree with this. He fits the criteria pretty well. Won the Memorial Cup and beat McDavid along the way to that championship. DK also stated that there was no improvement with the younger players. Maybe record-wise, but I challenge everyone to go watch Brady Tkachuk's reaction where he almost breaks down when talking about DJ and how he helped him. I think he is really able to connect with younger players.
