Building this team via the draft is a pretty slow process, but GMMG looks like a superb drafter. With most players, they take about 5 years from the draft to the time they're pretty good NHL players. A good class gets you 2 NHL players above 3rd pair or 4th line. This class likely nets 3 or 4. The 2023 class shows itself in 2028. The 2024 class (beyond Macklin) is looking promising, too. And that's another class looking at 3 or 4 guys.
GMMG's fist draft doesn't appear to have any sure things, but maybe 1-2 will make it. To get almost half a roster in 3 drafts is really impressive.
So keep acquiring and using the picks. It'll take longer than anyone probably wants, but it'll also mean the Sharks are good for a very long time. Like well into the 2040's
Will Smith playing center was the plan until we lost on the Schaefer sweepstakes. Now I feel like we'll see him more as a wing that slots in at center when needed with Misa on the way.

I would argue an average draft nets you one impact player (top 9 F, top 4D, or a NHL caliber goalie) and 1-2 decent depth players.
above average draft nets you 2 impact players with one being a core foundational piece, and 2+ depth guys. and elite draft would be 2-3 impact players 1 generational talent and 1 core piece, and 3+ depth/supporting pieces.
20 draft is below average,
21 draft is average,
22 looks to be borderline average,
23 is above average borderline elite,
and 24 is clearly Elite.
As long as 25 & 26 are at least above average sharks will be ridiculously loaded with young talent.
Grier and his scouting team is clearly one of the best in Hockey. Now I’m curious how he manages the cap, acquiring pieces to compliment the young core and diversify the skill on the team. Through trades and FA
Halttunen seems like he is one of those weird guys who is pedestrian in the regular season and comes alive in the playoffs! That’s not bad for a 3rd line RW! In the future.

I'm always underwhelmed by Halttunens regular season. Then he's a playoff monster. Could he be the Sharks' Justin Williams?
Since GMMG has taken over as GM the draft has been a boon for the Sharks franchise. I know he was only GM for a couple days, but even the 2022 draft has gone very well.

Michael Misa is going to Boston U, so he’ll likely be in NCAA for 1-2 years which is great. So we don’t need to rush Misa to the NHL.
