  1. I think we get Mitch, trade Ferraro and Thrun for a kick ass D man and sign a kick ass free agent d man. Make Dickensen a 7th D Man and rotate him into the line up on a development plan because he is way too good for the OHL and the rules say he cannot play in the AHL. I am not sure if Musty is ready for NHL, I think a good year on the Cuda would work best. We might think about signing Grandland again just incase Smith is not ready for center. Besides, A Mitch, Mack Will line sounds like a scary one for the other teams. Or a cookies and milk line, or a two Wills and a Mack line and then a Mitch Grandland Tafoli line. The options for top 6 would be potent no matter what.

  2. I like the Sharks chances because of the Marleau factor. He was a mentor to Mitch when they were in Toronto. Will this give the Sharks the inside track? My Toronto fan friend think Marner is only about the money. We shall see.

  3. You know what, I don’t mind Mitch coming here, I know everybody hates him and his attitude but he hates Toronto, I know Mitch grew up there but you could always tell he didn’t like it. Mitch probably likes San Jose considering two of his best mentors jumbo and marleau are here. Besides, we need like 20 million to hit the cap floor comfortably and I’d rather spend money on Mitch than pickup price and get nothing since he is already technically retired.

  4. He's a terrific player and I don't buy into the idea that he'll bring a poor attitude or mentality to SJ. But even though we have a ton of cap space,. I'd rather see us use the money to bring in D-men who can improve our fairly weak D corps – guys like like Dante Fabbro and/or Noah Dobson. IF we're gong to bring in a forward from free agency, I think Granlund would be a better buy – he could be had at a lower price and would require a shorter term, which will keep us from being encumbered when we have to renew Celebrini and Smith

  5. That sounds like he's considering two teams, and then others are planning on throwing lots of money his way. But these are not teams that he is actually considering.

  6. My biggest fear this off season is signing this guy. When Celebrini, Smith, Misa? and others out perform his guy, the resentment will ruin this team. It can't be helped. When someone out performs another who makes so much more money for the same job description, resentment occurs. Human nature, always happens regardless of profession. Paying this amount on a defense-man, I believe Grier can get away with it. The job description is not the same as the forward position. Also this will be the first step towards the Leafs problem, to much spent on 4 players. When the playoffs come around, you beat on these 4 guys and you win the series.

  7. What gets me is how many people are against the idea of paying up big for Marner. You don’t get a generational player in free agency that often.

  8. Hey Man,
I would say it's possible but, remember Mike Grier has stated two years in a row that he does not feel the Sharks are at the point where we are going to swing for the fences and try to land a max deal in terms of salary and term. Marner would certainly change the face of our franchise right away no doubt.

The thing I would worry about is what signing a Marner might do to our pipeline of prospects. Committing to Marner would mean pretty much a permanent road block for young aspiring prospects looking to matriculate to the Sharks. Also, if we commit to Marner and give him his current league value for 7 years how good will he be at age 34 and 35 or is he going to be another massive contract the fans will grumble about because Marner's skills have begun to erode by then?

I guess what I am saying is committing to Marner like that is a risk and regardless of how well he plays for us over the 7 years of his contract are we creating future problems holding our team together long term because we committed to him? I guess it depends on how much Grier and his team like Marner. If they love him then it's a golden opportunity to shift the fortunes of the Sharks. If they like him fine but, are leery of committing all that money and time to him then I think you don't do the deal.

Also, Marner may just be useing us as one of the two teams capable of paying him pretty much whatever he wants to drive up his potential contract with whomever he signs with ultimately. Sort of a "Well…San Jose is offering me $14.75 for 7 years can you match it?" I would think going to a team that is the opposite of where he was in terms of contending I am not sure if he would really be willing to play for a team working it's way up from the bottom.

Thanks for the fun video. One way or another we will know soon enough eh?

  9. there's literally been no report other than a facebook meme page saying the sharks could pursue him. clickbait bullshit.

  10. The Sharks are not going to attract Marner. There are many teams that would be more attractive. He does not really fit and we need to add bigger players and Defense.

  11. I’m not sure if mariner will come but I love see us make a big splash or 2 this seasons, I maybe go for elk lad of Florida’s to shore up the defence and maybe go for a whalers or vilardi of the jets
