Nick doesn't lack talent, he lacks size.
The guy was top 25 in the league for even strength goals per minute played last year and this year still top 50. All while playing with random linemates. It's bizarre that he is treated the way he is.
Robertson is a skilled and fast hockey player, his goal production will only go UP.
His points production was 12th out of 29 players, for 69 games only, barely saw any power play time and typically used 3 or 4th line…. not terrible stats for so few minutes per game… his case was one of misuse, they should have traded him a couple of seasons ago where he had a shot of being a regular, picked up that defense player they so sorely needed couple seasons ago…$5 says he wins a cup elsewhere
So, bye to Robertson, Kampf, Holmberg, Jarnkrok, Reeves and Pacioretti. Remember that even with these passengers they finished first in their division so keep Marner. Do a deal with Tavares. Get some hard hitters and bring up Cowan.
You can not question his work ethic. The only knock on him is his size and that he gets pushed around by bigger guys.
How many times leafs' Shanahan and Doubis gave up on guys with size and sent them packing , and now they are killing it elsewhere which is exactly what they need now.
This is about talent, not size. He's the same size as Brad Marchand. But Nick's scoring is inconsistent and and doesn't have control of his stick. He did finally start getting aggressive, laying hits but it's prob too late to prove himself in TOR.
I loved Robertson but I agree he’s probably not gonna fit with how this teams going
A huge mistake, his offense is unbelivable. He plays his heart out than Cryinjg Marner. Good luck, I won't be surprised if Robertson scored 30+ on another team. That's how Leafs team works.

Defense has always been the issue. None of them play aggressively like Sanderson, Jones, Makar. to support the offence. Too many times I see our forwards forechecking shorthanded without a dman in sight. Reminds me of my boys rep hockey coaching where we have the most talented forwards but can’t keep the puck inside the blue line because the defence has already left the zone and waiting at the center line. SMH.
I like him but his size is his downside
Robertson NEVER gota Chance. Heavy shot. Guts. Urgency. With minimal ice time scored 15.. and almost no PP time.
Leafs just don't get it. The answer is not in the prima Donna type player.. nor is it the Neanderthalic type. The answer, are players that care. That play like their hair is on fire. With urgency drive and guts. Exactly the opposite of Mathews.
Robertson will THRIVE elsewhere, with regular play and 3rd line ice time.

Initially Kyle Dubas [on the job training] built the team with too many of the same type of players that are small and skilled without much physical presence and not focus on other areas. Trade him to his brothers team and maybe he'll have more success…

Robertson, has a shot and nothing else, too small, can't check, no power play, no penalty kill, just a body skating in circles
It's probably best Robertson moves on. He likely needs a change of scenery.
