I'm a Wings fan and the goalie situation here reminds me of the '08 cup run. Hasek was the #1, the starter, the big name, big contract, but he was old & not as quick to play his usual style. Nashville exploited him & racked up easy rebound goals when he'd lay on his back to "snow angel" it. They decided to switch to Osgood with half of the fans crying saying he wasn't as good. That he'd choke & let in easy goals like in previous years. (San Jose, & Dallas haunt him) But he was already a veteran with a cup win on his own in '98. He won the next 2 games to win the series & the Wings never looked back. He wound up going 14-4 with a 1.55 GAA, 0.93 SV% and 3 shutouts. I don't care for Babcock but he knew to stick with the hot goaltender.

If Skinner starts game 5 I'm totally cool with it. If he wants to play it safe and keep Pickard going? Also cool with that. Let's just get the big W at home! Let's go Oilers!

I feel like they didn't give Skinner a chance to shine in Game 4, the Oilers offense and defense definitely improved Periods 2 and 3 but I feel like it had nothing to do with Skinner or Pickard.
Oilers play better in front if pickard because they know the puck won't easily go in if they mess up on the enemy's side of the ice.

He had many chances, including opportunities get his stick on a long distance shot to deflect in. In game 5, McDavid hits the post on a shot Perry usually gets a stick on it
