111 days until next season….SMH. NHL has no idea how silly they look (sadly they probably don't care either) playing their championship hockey in mid June aka summertime. Start the season on Oct. 1, end the season on March 30, start the playoffs on April 2. Cmon, NHL. Optics. Plus a better ice surface in late May for the Finals.
I feel like everyone talking how great the panthers are right now are just gaslighting out the insane amount of BS they did to win and how the league just didn’t care. Stupidly lopsided penalties gifted them a cup and they gift the MVP to the person who injured more than any other player. Every player should just run over goalies whenever they can, apparently that makes you the most valuable.

The Oilers are my favorite team and Florida is my second favorite. Although I’m happy for the Panthers they deserve the win after their play, I’m more sad Edmonton lost but regardless I can’t help but be in awe of Floridas team it has to be one of the best teams ever.
Worth a note. The only team that gave the Panthers some issue was at the hands of Canada's Team. Another note – get used to covering AHL games. Very entertaining and with CONSISTENT officiating. And…the big deal is the fight between John Tavares and the CRA. If Tavares loses, the only players who will be willing to play for a Canadian team will be fourth rate and not worth the effort.

The one problem with the rookie camps is they toss a kid out onto the ice where some older player on a PTO can obliterate them, so there's a risk of serious injury that gets compounded by players having various levels of game shape depending on when they last played.

Florida picking up Seth Jones and absolutely fleecing the Bruins for Marchand was the difference. They were inconsistent all season but took a step up with Jones and once Marchand was healthy they were locked in and started running everyone over. Teams could beat them if they played perfect, but when they were able to hit fifth gear it was 6-1 before you could catch your breath.
maybe i'm missing something, but why buyout Brodie when he can be waived? saves more money & a penalty year isn't incurred… why wouldn't the Hawks do that?

Championship teams are built from the back end forward. Almost every team can score but as we witnessed defence always wins.
You may have done it already but I would love to see some career videos on players who had decent careers but who later found success as head coaches as well. Quenneville, Sutter, Brindamour to name a few. Wouldn’t mind seeing Emile Francis as well. Plus how about some of the worst goons/agitators/ dirty players in NHL history. Wilf Paiement is a fascinating story as well as Probert, Domi and guys Dale Hunter and Tiger Williams.
