    It was demoralizing the first three to five times; the past two or three just felt like drinking room temperature water: an expected, unsatisfying taste. Leafs should've won this series in Game 6 after taking Game 3 in OT, but they lost Game 3, so here we are. Fuck Sam Bennett; he has a history of dirty hits, and him taking out Toronto goalie Anthony Stolarz in Game 1 fundamentally changed the series, imo.

    The Avalanche also have lost 7 straight game 7s. The only difference is they’ve won the Stanley Cup in that time period.

    As a Cleveland sports enjoyer. My heart goes out to very very few teams. Leafs and Bills are right there. And formerly Chicago Cubs before 2016.

    its not the loss its how they lost. tradition is they either fumble a lead or lose by one, this time they got slaughtered in front of the home crowd. this team is dead, and the league will play vulture and feast.

    There are just so many sad facts you can pair with the leafs last up win. Just to name a few:

    – It predates the moon landing
    – The nhl has quintupled the number of teams since
    – Interracial marriage was not yet legal nationwide in the us

    Bro my entire family are leafs fans. Brother I got some story’s for you. After the infamous game 7 choke against Boston, my dad just hopped up and left the house. 😂

    not to mention that the leafs typically end the regular season as their conference leader or having just missed out by a few points. it's not like the leafs are some wild card team that's happy to be there, this team (especially the last decade) has been one of the best regular season teams in the NHL just to decide to check out mid April…

    I have been a fan of this team since I learned that hockey was a thing in 2006. I follow hockey significantly less than stuff like football and baseball. Hell, even soccer and basketball sometimes.

    Regardless, even with the Cowboys being mid and the Yankees not being able to climb to the same heights as 2009 or prior, I still think the Leafs blowing playoff series after playoff series with all these great players who are more than capable of being champions etched on that trophy has been the most hurtful despite being significantly less invested. I still remember that series against Montreal where I watched as the team gave up on the ice from the onset. It seema that nothing has truly changed.

    I remember Mats Sundin being the only thing of note, back when we were on the caliber of the Sabres. That was the Toronto team I remember reading about in the standings as I didn't know where to watch hockey when I was a kid. Oh, if only I knew that it could somehow be worse while being better.

    one of their core four, john tavares, used to be the captain of the new york islanders. during his leafs tenure, the islanders have won more series in toronto than the leafs

    The irony is…If you're a Toronto Maple Leafs fan… You probably rooted for the Buffalo Bills in the 90's. It's the closest NFL team to your city. 😂

    Bro half of our fan base even called winning game 6 and losing game 7 because it's like the leafs job to torment us. Like I told people I'd be more shocked had they won AS A LEAFS FAN. I'm just apathetic to it now. Underperforming stars. Lack of effort. Yet. Again.
