What point is there having 32 teams when half of those markets are the only desirable locations? And before you tell me Winnipeg and Edmonton winning ask yourself this. Where are those teams when they fall off and aren’t winning? This is such a silver spoon league.
Buf. would match and trade instead of walking away from Peterka. Peterka would not sign an offer for the same reason.
This sneaky Joe guy is silly, Buffalo has spent to the cap and finished dead last place under Pagula. This narrative that he is cheap is silly. You guys act forget what the actual GM has said, nobody wants to come here so they built through the draft and they want to sign the guys they drafted…for example, they have 20 million yes but if they sign Levi, Quinn, Peterka, Byram that will all be gone. JJ and Byram would be 16 million or slightly under. And you are forgetting that Skinner who the “cheap” owner signed for 72 million was bought out and his cap hit is big for a few seasons coming up soon!!! I guarantee you if Marner wanted to play in Buffalo the owner would say sure here is 14 million for 7 seasons, he’s paid everyone…having cap space with youngest team in the league is a smart plan. The GM has told you he tried to trade for Necas and give him a huge contract but that player didn’t want to come here…last year signing a few old veterans would not have helped…Zucker was a great signing but that’s all we had.
To start I am very very pro union. However unions aren't meant to protect multi millionaires. This CBA is a joke. When players can dictate where they won't play it's a joke. It is probably the biggest reason Buffalo is in the mess it is in. Not only do players not want to come to a losing team they can choose to nix any trade to Buffalo and this creates a teams that have and teams that don't have. It's not fair and in fact it should be considered an anti trust situation for a law suit.
As every day passes and more and more “rumors” come out, I’m positive this franchise is finished.

Who says Peterka wants out? He's a talented young player who is trying to get maximum value on his next contract. If Buf offered him $8.5mil per season on an 8 yr deal he would definitely "want" to play here.
As an RFA, the team is in control. Once upon a time, a player would hold out if they didn't get the contract they wanted from their current team.. nowadays, they'll play for any team that will pay them (via offer sheet or trade).
I feel this situation with Peterka is about money and not much else.
