Hockey is now in the toilet because the non taxed teams have an advantage of signing great players for less than heavy taxed teams. IMO what the NHL should do is recreate the salary cap NUMBERS/maximums … The cap should be the "NET SALARY FOR ALL TEAMS TO BE THE SAME" ….. Florida , Nevada will have the exact same cap as Ottawa or LA etc. …. It will create more work for accountants and software people to iron out the math of slarties maximums /minimums ….
The State of Florida has a wicked high cost of living even for NHLers: housing market, property taxes, insurance on house and car. Not to mention being at the mercy of hurricanes and insufferable heat/humidity from May-October. Not exactly paradise. Players go there for the successful hockey team (which will age and decline over the next decade, probably sooner). Not a great place to live year round once the team has fallen out of contention. Food for thought.
We are so lucky as Cats fans. They were +39 this post season. Just insane. They love each other and play for each other. The culture they have incubated breeds championships. What a team. Go Panthers

I'd love to see Florida win 3 straight. Watching Montreal in the 70s and then the Isles in 80s was so exciting. Edmonton probably would have gone 5 in a row if not for that own goal.

I'm going to say yes they can win it all if they re-sign at least 2 of their big 3 ufas and Bobrovsky's workload is reduced by 5 or 6 games during the regular season…Older goalie and you gotta wonder how much he has left in the tank.

Last year florida was definitely relying on bobrovsky. And Bobrovsky is 37 with 10 million salary. Probably not signing a 38 year old goalie next year even if its a deal.
Eetu Luostarinen, with only 15+ minutes of ice time per game, 3rd most even strenght points in the playoffs. Only behind McDavid and Draisaitl, who both played 24+ and 22+ minutes per game, tied with Reinhard who had the pleasure of hitting empty netters. Anton Lundell, 16 minutes of ice time, barely gets powerplay time, 18 points and 17 of them even strenght points. Dominated the plus-minus.
Those two guys with Marchand were the best line for Florida.

I honestly disagree with the claim it was close this year. I feel like it was almost completely controlled by Cats. Edmonton never once beat them in the regulation time.. all but one Florida wins were absolutely one sided.
Watching the Tampa and Florida series in the first round idk if I would agreed with the assessment that the Panthers got Tampa best by any stretch of means

What can you even do to stop a team like this? How many teams can convince themselves that they should even try? I'm a Wild fan and have been saying for 3 years that we gotta all in when the buyouts drop, but can we really win against this? We mainly need a run just to inspire confidence in Kaprizov and gain experience, but it's really hard to imagine mortgaging futures to try to win now if the Panthers are still the world destroyers they have been.
Crazy that the team will be mostly the same for years to come… i feel bad for the rest of the league.
There is higher chance of Florida three peat long than Oilers have making the cup. Don’t know how oilers are favorites to win it. Sure they were best in west but the psyche of championship team is a thing of past

I think they are going to compete for a few more years but this looks like when the end comes it isn't going to be pretty. Talk about all in for the cup window, that butcher bill looks like it will be ugly.
