  1. Happy Bobby Bonilla / Rick DiPietro Day! My favorite July 1 moment happened 10 years ago today:

Kessel to PIT in multi player deal. Done.

  2. DK I shared on one of your videos about Sid. I work with NHL players and I asked the ones who have passed through Pittsburgh, whether a cup of coffee or extended stay and here are questions and their response, this relates to this year:
What was your favourite organization, like which one was the best? "Pittsburgh"
What had them be the best? "Sid, for sure Sid. Sid runs the show there."…alluding to the fact that there is a level excellence, connecting and creating a camaraderie, and seemingly always doing the right thing (for example being the first to call a player upon being signed or the first to call when moved, sometimes even before management).
This organization is viewed by players at the top of the league, and all the players I have spoken to the reason is Sid. There is something this organization owes to Sid for the work he has done to have this organization be worth over a billion dollars, Stanley cup champs, and a place to go to and want to be. When moves are made I think that don't take into consideration Sid, even though he is just a player, I think lacks awareness of him as a player for this team, this organization. When he is gone, by all accounts by the players I spoke with, that relationship with this organization goes….because the organizations level of excellence had nothing to do with GM, coach, president, owner…it was Sid.
