1. I actually believe that selling the quakes is about getting completely out of Cali not tried to A’s but it doesn’t hurt to have the cash.
Good run down on the issue Mr Brazil

  2. I still detect bitterness in your voice Mr. Brazil. Not that I blame you, but I feel you are too emotionally involved to understand that this is solely a business decision. OF COURSE its for the money! But the TRUTH is the A's have had financial difficulties since the 80's (before Billy ball) and attendance problems along with the issues with an aging ballpark even then. The Oakland government didn't come forward for the A's the way they did for the Raiders…and they BOTH left. I also want to amplify on the topic that while the success of the team is solely on the owner, the place where they play is SHARED responsibility of the community. I went to Oakland in the early 2000's, the park was literally in disrepair and rusting in places then. Yet, this was supporting a MLB & NFL franchises? If you're "renting" a residence, and there are "issues" you DON'T continue to live there for 25 years and NOT address those issues or expect them attended to. I hate to make comparisons, but really, would NYC, Boston or Chicago allow their facilities to "rot" the way they did in Oakland, for so long, without action or attention? Sure, the A's sought other homes and other places to play…their "house" wasn't fit! Because Fisher is a "Billionaire owner" since when does that make him MORE responsible to fix the house he's "renting"? Now, if you think it's tough NOW for communities to afford these facilities, how do you think it's going to be in 10-15yrs, when maybe Boston & Chicago have to finally think about replacing Fenway & Wrigley. I see a NEED for the return of the multi-purpose stadiums coming where NOT ONLY MLB & NFL is played there but can easily be converted for NHL & NBA use. Why do I think this? Because its more efficient to have a building used for MOST of the year than say half of the year. Communities and the teams HAVE to come to this reality that facilities that cater to multiple uses are necessary or they ALL have to be privately funded.

  3. Excellent and fair breakdown as always, Brodie. I know a video like this isn't easy for you to do given your long connection with the A's since childhood but you do an excellent job of keeping a level head and keeping us updated on this saga. Btw, I have to imagine you'll make a lot of KC-themed videos soon since the Chiefs and Royals are closing in on a decision on their futures venues.
