So Tomasek is a RW. Which of Hyman (No), Savoie (maybe), Podkolzin (probably No) and Kapanen ISN'T playing for him to play? I mean yes, he is waivers exempt but you're bringing a 29 year old over from Europe, don't you want to spin the tires and see what he can do?
So not give a 1st up for Howard. Team is fine. The role this player fits is one where we develop him and then trade him for a veteran top six guy who is in his prime and helps us win the cup teams without draft capital that are in their cup window have to on roster develop guys like him to be moved for more reliable playoff assets later. That is why I say don’t give up a first because team will often give you a those top assets for a first anyways. So why bother with the trade.

Bottom six player on many other teams. Top six player – with drai as center – on the oil says a lot about how weak the oilers wings are.
I'm starting to become concerned that after next season having the top 2 most expensive players in the league on the same team is going to make it harder to assemble enough good players around them.. i realize the cap will continue to go up but so will players salaries over time..i wonder about an approach in the future where there are more players in the 7 to 9 million range and less above 10 million.. like just one or two max.. Draisaitl and McDavid will be making the same after next year as literally 4 players in that 7 plus million range..im not sure that continuing to be so top heavy is the path to success
This team has gotten worse after over the last 2 seasons. Management needs to get better at making sneaky moves.

I mean this roster is good enough to make the dance. Good enough to maybe make another run. But as always, that's usually mostly down to 97-29. And it's probably not good enough to win a cup. As we saw, Fla is far better. And coming in with the same team.
Running out of top years of the two guys. They should be a dominant dominant team at this point in their careers. A potential cup fav with a bullet. And they aren't. In fact, I think this last run proved a lot of people wrong. Lots went right. They caught fire. And if you go in with this roster, what's the space for a huge improvement.
I mean it's easy to say get better. But yeah, there's really no world even with a bounce they beat Florida. And Connor has to get a fucking cup. Asap
