Wow, Greg made more logical sense than the fans who are inpatient. Firing Davidson or being upset about getting a top player. Thats not going to fix anything. This FA market is weak this year. What’s the point of trying to get veterans to take out the young players spots in the lineup? Last season some fans again were complaining about the young players needing more time in the NHL. This year they get their chance to play in the NHL so there is no reason to have a top player sign with the Hawks because he’s only going to take that players spot. Rebuilds take time and patience and we have time for developing players. It’s not a bad thing if it takes a year or two. The organization is not ready to take that next step but the young players could make a impact that forces Davidson to make a splash in FA next offseason.
No one made KD say they were going to be aggressive (AGAIN) this offseason, and getting another late 1st and spending that on a 2nd round player AGAIN isn't being aggressive.
KD said before last season it was time for the Hawks to rise in the standings – NO ONE MADE HIM SAY THIS, and the Hawks only got TWO more wins this year, and 5 more games to OT and losing, which is essentially the exact same record as the year before.
I have realistic expectations for a rebuild but our GM does not. I'm also tired of KD wasting draft picks on players not even projected to go in that round. Dude has had like 2 great value picks, every other pick has been losing value.
Bedard looks bored and hopeless out there at times, that isn't a player issue its being the BOTTOM OVERALL TEAM issue.
Every signing this year was of good to great value, there are only 1-2 contracts I look at and somewhat question – but still understand – ya'll are strawmanning with this "bad term bad contracts" argument.
We need to trade Murphy & Reichl. All the deadwood is gone. Add one really solid Defenseman and we are good to go.
Next season we may get McKenna. Frondell will be ready. Then you go for McDavid or Kaprizoff and you have a vastly improved team.
If the Hawks are the worst team in the league, does Blashill get fired or does Davidson?

I am ok with this. You have to have spots open for the young guys to play and grow. I enjoy watching young guys working their butts off trying to make it in the league.
reminder KD said before the 2024-25 season he expected the Hawks to not be in the playoffs but not a bottom 5 team, we were the 2nd worst team in the league and are likely going to be the worst or bottom 3 again next year

I know their is a lot of pressure on Bedard but he repressed last year. For fans they thought Bedard would score 40 last year. Bedards progress and not many prospects progression is not linear. I hope Bedard in this year and gets off to a good start
Monthly reminder, Bedard is doing just fine. Many great players have went through a sophomore slump.
Bedard is at 0.85 points per game after 2 seasons compared to Kane’s 0.88 after his first 2 years. And Connor had to deal with shit rosters and terrible coaching.
