They’re not done with trades I think too many goalies Silovs is probably going time for the young players to step up as well
If Demko and the rest of the team stay relatively healthy all year and they play a more defensive style that protects their goalies and keeps their GA down, sure. Absolutely. But that's a bit IF. If a key player, any one of Demko, Hughes, Chytil or EP40 are out for any significant length of time or EP40 doesn't get back to at least a 70-80 point player, I don't see how that happens. I do miss the days with fewer teams and you could get into the playoffs with a sub-.500 record. It was more exciting because every once in a while, a team like Minnesota would go on an improbable run after a losing record in there regular season. I miss having real underdogs in hockey. Because of parity and the number of teams, by the time you get to the finals, there either are no underdogs or the series is a foregone conclusion.

You need assets in order to trade for assets. The Canucks need a center.

What actual meaningful change? Kane and extensions and Suter will need to go. Then there's the coaching, which is an unknown. Is Foote actual head coach material?
Honestly, 90 points considering everything that happened last year, I think we can have a little bit more confidence than we do right now. Everything hinges on Petey honestly. If he starts popping off again, the team will ride that.

I am not hating on this team but it still is highly suspect. But I will say this is that we will start with a far better defense than we did at the start. I like Boeser, but not a big fan. I can see out of desperation us picking him up. We needed someone who can score some goals. Without Miller he probably won't get over 30 goals I think somewhere in between 25-30 no higher. And we desperately needed someone like Kane.. I do not think we have a big jump in points. There is a chance to make the playoffs but not as a cup contender. Only one alpha dog. I hope Chytil stays healthy. He took a major cheap shot. And I wonder if Kane can handle being the policeman for the whole team being he will be the only player who will or can stand up for team mates. He has a super heavy load to carry. Probably his biggest commitment of his career. Might be the only team he has played for with no other alpha dog. And I think Silovs was not quite ready to play on a team last year with a really bad defense. Things should be better. Just have to score by committee. Just have to hope ten to twelve players get over 18 -25 goals.
I was hoping they would move up in the draft to take a center that could play 2c in a couple of years. Now they need to trade for one. So.let's see how it goes.
What a wild and unexpected day! Regardless of whatever they were trying to do ahead of the draft, I'm glad that so far they haven't sacrificed futures to pay for mediocrity in the short term (as they usually do).
Why is no one talking about the fact Tocchet is gone made players wanna stay? Boesser would never sign if he still was around. Thats a fact.

Brock has no playmaker with no JT, Lanks played great, so demko is a moot point, hronek won't shoot. Basically, any player puts up points playing with Hughes. Chytle didn't do much when he was healthy. It's a 8-11th place finish at best imo😢

Prediction after signings : This year Ep40 will rebound (2nd yr) and the pressure will be on BB to stretch score 35 goals and will be a backmonkey. Demko will be Demko. Garland will be 2023 Garland.
I would have gone with lankinen and silovs and traded demko. With the extra money they could have gotten another centre and resigned suter
Canucks line one is not line one in NHL. Ihlers could change that. Petey Ihlers and DeBrusk could be good line one.
I love the depth we have on the blue line and in the net. I won't be surprised if we trade a goalie and a defenseman for a center at some point this summer. Any one of our top three goalies are capable of being a #1 guy for most teams in the league. I think our top 4 defenseman are untouchable but 5 through 10 are definitely attractive targets for every other team in the league
Funny that nobody considered the idea of a conditional 2026 1st rounder being an asset that could be in play: having your first protected if the Canucks pick ends up being in the top 10 for example would still make the pick a useful trade chip.
You don't think with all the injuries and the other BS it didn't cost them 5 games? That would be a 100 point season. The players seem tight and really like Foote.
Again, I really don’t get why you guys don’t think a team that got 90 points last season going through EVERYTHING that they did, can’t improve by 6-10 points….
