Canucks finally drafted a canadian.
Vancouver canucks need centers
The highlight they showed of Cootes was crazy. Getting blown up into the net just after he scores, and then immediately goes after the guy. He's got some speed and looks fearless.
Brad Marchand clone
Too small…hopefully they can feed him some growth hormone and get him bigger. It would have been so easy and probably cheap to move up a few spots and get a much better player. Another example by the Canucks of doing too little and leaving it too late. I wish the kid well and I hope he has a very nice career, but he will probably top out as a third line Center. If you don’t get the quality player you want, then you need to take the best player available regardless of position, and he was not that.
The next Blueger!
I would of liked it more if we drafted Eklund instead, but Cootes is still great because we really need Centres right now
When you get a rough guy, you aim for top 6, but if not you can still aim for bottom 6 use. When you get a weak sniper type, he better be like PPG or he stays in the AHL, as he will be -20 every year. On that basis, I like Coote more than Eklund.
LOL.
63 points in 60 games on a really bad team!
Awesome pick!! I think the Canucks saw the Cup final and thought twice of getting another thin Swede. They absolutely 👍 made the right pick with Cootes!! Welcome to Vancouver bro!! Let’s back to work 💪 Go Canucks Go!!!
All I gotta say is they better sign a top 6 forward or we’re in for a very long season
He also played with Sawyer Mynio
Best of luck to Breaden. We do need centre. 27/28 season will have a new face. We got Bo Horvat Jr here. Vashington got one hell of a winger.Blues the same.
Watching his highlights, I get Mike Peca vibes.
Probably more like the next Sam Lafferty. This draft might not even have 10 players who play 250 NHL games.
Happy with this pick. Cootes is going to be a good player for the Canucks. They had some good options available and didn't fumble.
Canadian kid. Good pick. Once he grows in to his man body he may be good. I said the same about Jake Virtanen however. Kesler was 6'2" and 205ish.
Great pick!!!
I am just glad the Canucks kept this pick rather than packaging it in a trade for short-term roster help. Braeden Cootes should be a solid player. Forechecking is essential in the NHL, and Cootes also brings good leadership.
I was hoping we'd get some Kash.
Is this guy a Trevor Linden type leader?
I think Victor Eklund is overrated. Cootes is the much safer pick and has the potential to be a 2nd line center.
If the Seattle Thunderbirds had more offensive talent, Cootes would've been a Top 10 pick. It's a blessing that he was available because he's one of the kinds of players the Canucks desperately need. Furthermore, the Canucks can use at least a couple of hardworking and skilled Canadian lads.
