There have been 4 different sports with a team called the Pittsburgh Pirates. The MLB team, obviously, the NHL team shown here, the Steelers were originally called the Pirates, and there was a team in the National Basketball League (which would later merge with the BAA to become the NBA)called the Pittsburgh Pirates, from 1937 to 39.
