  1. Always fascinating seeing guys picked in rounds 2 through 7 & the projections that the amateur scouts are making on 17/18 year old players. When you see them in dev camp or in rookie tournaments & interviewed, you can see what is was that influenced amateur scouting directors like Wes Clark & Mark Leach to pick them. Even at ages 18 to 21 some guys stand out & you can envision them as future pros, or even possible NHLers. It's interesting how a number of guys who were tall, but slender, or were under 6' tall have grown, added muscle & are 10, 15 or sometimes 20 lbs heavier than when they were when drafted.

Cowan was 5' 9" & 172 lbs when London got him & was 5' 10" & 176 when drafted by the Leafs. He's now 6' tall & 188 lbs, not huge, but certainly not 'undersized' anymore. I have no doubt he'll play in the NHL & hopefully for the Leafs. His scoring exploits in London are in the same area code as Marner's + OHL league MVP, playoff MVP & Memorial Cup MVP. This guy's game goes up a level in the playoffs, so why trade him as just a prospect? I sure as hell wouldn't. Tree has resisted numerous asks to include him on trades so far, so I assume he has a very high opinion of Cowan.

  2. Haymes has a head on his shoulders. Hope to see him flourish with the Marlies this year and work himself towards an NHL call up.

  3. The press should introduce the players they are interviewing, so we know who they are.
