They ran him out of town because he was just too expensive. Leafs will probably still make the playoffs but maybe not the 4th in the leauge like they did this past year
I think Marner did better in the playoffs then people act like he did
There is a thing called cap space, something you should really know because you play NHL video games and always give people less money so you have more money. Well the Maple Leafs didn't want 3 players make $10m+ anymore, since it hasn't worked for them.

He’s a good player but he priced himself out of town with that old contract
