When he goes back to juniors his elc will slide. This only means he can’t go play in the NCAA
Sometimes burning a year of elc is a good thing. If you are 100% convinced a prospect is gonna be an nhl player and continue improving every season the earlier you can sign them to a contract the better. Could be the difference of 3-5 million a season and 5-8 million a season.
Sign your franchise players young as possible. If you believe in their potential theyre still affordable at 21 when they become RFA's.

Why cant he be a 1c. He could of racked up way more points in juniors if he was on a good team. On top of that he plays a two way game and if he just focussed on offense like most junior scoring stars yeah maybe he would of been put up way more points.

Hard to believe Cootes can't crack this lineup. LOL. Give him the 2nd C shot if he does well in camp and pre season. He already showed enough to get signed.

Braeden Cootes is likely 2-3 seasons away from the NHL. If he's early, it would likely be the 2027-28 season.
