The most glaring weakness of Hurricanes is definitely 2C spot. Kotkaniemi didn't progress like they hoped he would. They have been trying with this center core for years. They have to change it this summer or at least in the deadline.
He’s had one full season in his last 7. At 29 years old making 8.5 for 6 more years, I don’t know, seems risky to me but he is a hell of a player when healthy. I think at 7.5 would’ve been a better contract for the Canes

We need a solid goaltending tandem. Primuea and the Russian kid we just got are not it (yet). Aside from that I would unload KK and go after Hertl.
Love to see trade with Buffalo- Tage Thompson (C) . Going to take a top 6 player with term, maybe a top prospect and a quality draft pick to get their attention.
Absolutely insane that Ehlers made more than Bennett. You could liken Ehlers to a VERY poor man's version of Marner, but not as good defensively either.
Lol let's face it, Carolina is starting to look the the Devils from a few years back. Bottom 6 continues getting worse. Defense got worse. Gonna be fully reliant on Rod and his system yet again, with no true game breaker. Ehlers ain't it lol.
I feel like Ehlers is overrated. I know i'm being a hater and maybe because I dont watch alot of Jets games is why I feel this way. But hey Carolina gotta pay to get guys to go there.

i would keep my eyes peeled for a mason mctavish offer sheet. the canes are clearly desperate for a 2C, and they could offer 8.5×7 for mctavish and anaheim may not match it. mctavish is a player they can afford to lose especially after drafting a center in roger mcqueen

Goaltending is still the biggest flaw in the Canes, same as last year. Canes are looking to move KK before the season starts.

Hearing the rumour that he didn't want to sign with a Canadian team surprised me. Nikolaj is one of the first players that I would have guessed to be happy playing Canada. That being said, I could totally see him wanting to play for Carolina, I thought Montreal and staying in Winnipeg would be the other top teams on his list
Would love to see them rock this D pair for most of the regular season, get Nikishin a lot of PT, get a big ticket RD at the deadline and kick ghost back to left & Nikishin to 7D for playoffs. I just don’t think Walker and Chatfield is an Ideal top 2 on that right side, would really love to see us add a 1RD and a 2 or 3 C
