What do you think of this trade?
The guy is only 24 years old and has already managed to be the MVP of the World Championship and the AHL. He still has 10–15 years to play. I hope the Penguins make use of his potential.
At least he got traded to a team that is in rebuild that could use him more than us, just in the playoffs. So I like this trade. I looked up Chase, know we have 2 Chase's, but apparently this Chase is related to Cory Stillman, the Stanley Cup Champion. He's a scorer but lacks speed it says. If he can get his speed down. I'm happy with it. We also got a draft pick is which is amazing. With this GM, we might be actually using our picks now.

Fans are going to complain about this but the fact they actually got a return in a market where these types of goalies don't get high value. If they lost him on waivers, the complaining would never end. Pittsburg is good for him on a team that's literally in a rebuilding phase.
Tidy lateral trade
Ya'll realize this was a huge miss step by management right… demko had one year left on his older contract new one kicks in 26-27 season…. they could have waited until after a silovs trade to.sign demko, to keep some leverage. By signing demko super early u signaled to all nhl teams that u have to trade silovs.
its all good as long as pittsbugrh doesnt turn around and flip him to the oilers or sharks.
Demko is one over stretched butterfly move away from a serious and potentially career ending injury. Should have kept Silovs as insurance!
The Canucks were once known as a goalie graveyard. Not anymore. Not for a long time actually. It's one thing the Canucks do well lately. They always seem to find more goalies and while I am disappointed, I'm happy they got something back. All the best in Pittsburgh Arturs!

The Canucks didn't get much for Arty. I'm very disappointed in this trade, but it doesn't matter what I think. I just hope it doesn't bite the team down the road.

I hope the Oilers trade for Silovs AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! What a terrible trade for the Canucks. How dare this organization trade away their MVP Goaltender who actually won trophies something for them. They’re 100% going to regret this trade.
I think the Latvia year he led them to a massive upset in the Bronze medal game against the US.

For all of those fans who are questioning this deal, the real scapegoat in all this, is not management, but Thatcher Demko. Had he stayed healthy, and putting performance aside, just played the whole season for the team, i think that Silovs would be in line to be the backup this year. But the Canucks have decided to roll with him rightly or wrongly, and so needing insurance they signed Lankinen long term, and so dear fans, being waiver eligible Silovs had to go. History will prove who was right, but if Demko is great the rest of the way, i think everyone will forgive and forget this move.
His expected trade value was a 3rd/4th. We basically got a late 3rd because Pittsburgh wont be near the playoffs in 2027 and a possible fringe NHL player thats a former 1st round pick. We did fine.
Still not 100% on Demko staying healthy. But had mixed feelings on Silovs. I don't think of him as being an elite goalie. He might be but his play has been otherwise. Enough to keep you in games if your defense is good. And can't write Stillman off. Still a fairly young guy. I can see Silovs playing in the NHL next season though. I think he had to rebrand himself because of his stint in net for us last year when we had the worst defense for a while. Exposed him badly. Went back and had to learn how to become a goalie again in Abby. I do think it will translate. This could be nothing for either side. I know how our fans over value some of our players.
