Every fanbase grossly overrates their prospects. They think guys like Barkey/Bump are top prospects when in reality there are on zero top prospects list and not expected to be more than 3rd liners.
They said they were going to backfill the roster before they pull the trigger on big names. Looks like that's what they're doing
It is frustrating that management thinks they dont need more high end talent and that they are turning the corner, idk how they can look at this team and prospects and think they are ready, no team is going to let a RFA leave next summer. Now with this in mind I don't think they will be good enough to compete and will ultimately still be a top 5 pick anyway next year but what is frustrating is management doesn't see it like fans know it
Math indicates that chance would give you three on the list for every team. 3X32=96 Adding the rankings and doing the old divide by three our dudes puts us in the upper third.
I always find it amusing. We down play what Barkey and Bonk did in London, but gove zero pump to Jett for producing on one of the worst teams in the CHL.
I'd be curious to see a year over year prospect rankings from Wheeler to see how accurate he's been

I think Bill is right to be questioning about the Flyers prospect pool.
a little concerning that the Flyers prospect pool isn't more highly regarded…whether it's Wheeler or Graviteh on youtube, etc,. Time will tell about Martone vs Hagens, Luchanko vs Buium, Nesbitt and other major moves by Danny.

Still hoping we trade Tippett for Byram. That would solve our #1D issue, and it would open a roster spot so that both Martone & Bump could make the team in October. Also hoping we trade for Necas, since McDavid & Eichel are working on their extensions.
Flyers with more money next year think they need to get a young 1C, add Necas with Martone they will have power forwards for both line 1 and line 2.
Goalies take time to develop AND adapt to the nhl. I wouldn't give up on ANY of their tenders until theyve had 2- 3 full years in the league…ie..Bobrovsky, Stolarz..a strong aggressive D also makes alot of difference as we know. When our D improves in strength and becomes more 'meean', the goaltending will improve …see Michael Leighton
Serious question. What on Scott Wheeler's resume says that I should value his rankings and his opinions on any prospects? I don't know anything about Scott Wheeler.
I don't understand why Wheeler's list is upsetting. Who have we drafted that deserves to be in the top 100? Other than Martone, we don't have any future possible superstars. This is why the rebuild really needs to continue; I know no one wants to admit it. The team needs a legit #1 center in the pipeline and the best way to get one is through the draft.
I'm still mad about passing on Buium. I will continue to hold this against Briere unless Luchanko actually does something and Buium is just average,
Pens will win the lottery. It must be this way because the Pens can't develop their own prospects to make their team consistently good, so the team depends on getting generational talent every 21 years.
Or the Flyers finish 12th worse and win the lottery so we draft 2nd and don't get McKenna.
An idea for the producers. Go find some of these lists from 5 years ago and go through them. At least we can see if players have risen or dropped of rather than just opinions on potential.
