Not until Connor Hellebuyck stops shitting the bed in the playoffs. The Jets were a literal miracle away from going down in the 1st round to the #8 seed. I'm rooting for them to break through, but I've learned to be skeptical of underperforming clubs.

My guess is that Chevy stands pat to see how Toews and maybe one of the younger guys do in Ehlers spot before signing a player or two at the deadline to rebuild the 2nd line if need be.

Given the fact that the Jets were only 1.5 seconds (and a bit of good fortune) away from being eliminated in the 1st round, by the 8th seed, the Presidents Trophy meant little to nothing. If anything, the post season scars are even deeper now.
They have to MAKE the playoffs, first. They share a division with Dallas, recent Champs Colorado, the now unshackled Wild and the Blues with their first full season under their new coach. Between the divisional competition, their over-reliance on Hellebuyck, and the fact that Canadian teams don't win Cups anymore, I'd say they're in for another 2nd round exit 🙁
Jets is the next Maple Leafs. Makes the playoffs every year but exits early.

samberg signs almost for sure, vilardi maybe as a bridge but i also see a world chevy cooks up a quiet pld style trade this summer. also i see some of the youth cracking the roster this year. super sad ehlers is gone but i dont think its as big a loss as others do. (ehlers is a PDO drream)
I wonder how long a shot it would be if Toexs doesn't work out and McDavid hits the market, for the Jets to pursue him? Obviously superstar, but if McD is looking to win, WIN would have a great center to work with & there is an upgrade from EDM in goal. D corps probably an upgrade also, so if McD is looking to win…. I know all the downsides that make it unlikely, but it crossed my mind.
Maybe the Jets should do a Florida. Less Helle in the regular season, not 1st in the division but Helle is more rested come playoff time
Toews is not a second line center, he is in Winnipeg to end his career in front of his friends and relatives. I don't even think he will play too many games, keep in mind he did not play for nearly two years and he is 37. Vladi will be the second line center, he has some chemistry with Perfetti. Jets needs some prospects like Lambert and Chiprikov to step up this season.
As a former Atlanta Thrashers mini plan holder , I miss Atlanta hockey but always follow the Jets a bit. Hoping they have more playoff success. Fans deserve it.
Bucky and the jets are a different team in the playoffs. Great regular season team and can't do squat in the playoffs. As per usual the presidents trophy means nothing. They can't win on the road in the playoffs and if they didn't have home ice they would have been bounced in the first round. 10 straight road losses now and counting. Hellebuyck is just average in the playoffs and that has to change next year.
Based on how they played in St Louis in the playoffs, I wonder if they’re not too structured. It’s like the difference between being book smart and having real world experience.
Watching more video than any other goalie ever is fine for predicting what a team will probably do in the regular season, teams can only switch up so much during the grind.
It felt like Jets (goalie and skaters) relied far too much on knowing what you’re supposed to do rather than just reacting in the moment. If the Blues had figured out how to hold onto a lead the past few seasons, the Jets playoff problems would look even worse

In short…no. Finishing 1st in reg. season don't mean much. Case in point, only 8 times in the past 38 years has the presidents trophy winner gone on to win the cup that year.
I don't know… Maybe I underrate some players, but this forward group isn't enough… Scheifele is number one center… I'm not sure… probably 2nd line on the better teams. Vilardy probably 2nd liner. the 2nd line is actually 3rd line… Anyway… they need 2nd line C… 2 top 6 wings … not sure about the D… seems okay… Comrie was okay last year, not sure why they don't play him more often… They hardly made it out of 1st round… I have quite hard time to see them making PO with this roster….
It has been reported both connor and lowry want to be jets for life but time will tell

lol. Love you man but even when Lowry comes back they don’t have a number 2 centre. As someone who watches all their games they need scoring bad and some physicality on the back end. The only thing they need from centre is someone who can actually win a faceoff
