  1. You can argue that Skinner should start Game 5 since he did not play bad in Game 4. However, the analytics seem to suggest that Pickard is more of a clutch performer. Maybe it is just a fluke on a small sample, but Pickard has this Cinderella feel about him at the moment. Kind of a destiny in the making. After all, Pickard lost the starting position in the playoffs due to injury, so maybe karma is speaking. In any case you have to think Pickard deserves the start in game 5 and see what happens. If he plays like a back-up goalie, you can bring back Skinner in Game 6.

  2. It will be Pick's on Saturday, the Oil play a different style when they are in front of him that will throw the Panthers for loop.

  3. They have to go with Pickard in Game 5. If they go with Skinner they will break the momentum the win created in Game 4. Pickard is on a roll, keep it going, if he lets in too many, then put Skinner back in.

  4. Pickard is 7-0 these playoffs and his most recent win was after coming in while down 3-0. I think you have to start him and it would be utter insanity to not try. Could it backfire? Maybe. But so could playing Skinner. The team has played excellent in front of Pickard, it’s not like Edmonton will be eliminated if they lose either, so ride the Pickard train until the wheels fall off I say. That save on Bennett in OT should have earned him another chance too.

Also good to keep in mind that he was their starter in these playoffs after the first two games and only lost it because of an injury. There is no reason to start Skinner except out of pure stubbornness (I’m not blaming him for that first period last game, it just is what it is, Pickard is 7-0, that’s a REALLY important number to keep in mind I think).

  5. There's no room for ceilings anymore. Stu's east west is his weakness and the panthers are lighting him up. Picard gives the oil a look the panthers aren't familiar with yet. Picard game 5. Must win for the oil.
