What are the subscribers opinion on the Leafs “window” from my viewpoint, with not many real NHL prospects in their system and upcoming draft picks given away the management in in win now mode or bust and some would say that that window has already started to close. Top UFA’s did not choose to come to Toronto this offseason. Clearly they have to play differently to succeed this season.
Leafs need to make a call with this guy, either keep him and use him, or trade him for draft capital to use in other deals. Him being signed to above league minimum just to ride the bench in the playoffs makes no sense.

Play him on the first line. I say he gets 30 goals and 60-70 points.

Honestly: sub 2 Mil is a good deal for the Leafs. At the very least he should have some trade value.

Only toronto fans with their infinite lack of wisdom would think this is an overpay, Robertson is great, he puts up those numbers with bottom-six time and almost no PP time. There is soo many teams in the league where he would slot into the top 6 with PP time.
Honestly, any servicable player that can score at least 10 goals who goes for under 2M or 1.5M, it's kinda hard to get upset about that. The cap is 90 million… 1.75M is fine.
I think the Leafs settled in the middle as opposed to leaving it to an arbitrator to retain the flexibility of moving the asset. I’d kinda be surprised if he’s on the roster in the fall.
If he gets better defensively this season this will be looked at as a fantastic contract. They are going to need him this season and as pointed out, he gets a little bit better every year.
