I would like to see Columbus make the playoffs this year and hopefully we’ll get different matchups in the first round
So close, yet so far. I am not the biggest fan of their moves and I think that was the career year for Werenski. I think they slip back a little. 5th in the Metro with 87-92 points.
I can see Columbus making the playoffs this year. They were 1 win away last season and a lot of the teams ahead of them were really quiet during free agency. Granted, so were the BJs, but a earlier trade with Colorado getting Coyle is bigger than almost anything the immediate competition did.
I think Cayden Lindstrom should also be listed as a top prospect for them, right?
Now this is the team I am most looking forward to this year. They had a very good season last year, sadly they didn’t make the playoffs but nobody had expected that in the first place. Hopefully Chinakhov and the Jackets find a deal and they figure out what they’re doing with Merzlikins. I have them in third in the Metro behind the Canes and Caps, making the playoffs again with around 90-96 points.

Apparently, Waddell has had a meeting with Chinakhov and his agent to "clear the air", where he made it clear to them that Chinakhov has value to the Blue Jackets as a top 6 forward and they won't trade him unless they get that back. So it appears he has already taken actions to handle that situation.
Also, I think Marrelli is closer to the NHL than Elick is.
Honestly Elvis hasn’t been the same since Kivi died. He’s still capable of playing really well but he does allow the negativity to get in his head unfortunately. We’ll see how Evason and Waddell treat his playing and contract going forward. In Don we Trust.
I feel like Columbus would have to bank on critical things falling in their favor to make moves as a playoff team. It's too early to call doom and gloom. But some of Waddell's moves has me convinced Tlusty was the true mastermind behind the moves in Carolina. I can see some improvements, maybe leaping over the Penguins. I just don't see them being that much better than other up and coming teams in the East, like Buffalo or Detroit.
There’s a lot of depth on this team, way more than I thought.
I'd love to see them in the playoffs (as long as is not to the detriment of my Habs)! The East is shaping up to have another tough year, with a big MIX!
Is Del Bel Belluz no longer with the team?
I think they can do it this time, knowing if they had just one more win they would've made it should light a fire under them even hotter than last year. And although it's now been two years the loss will be fresh in their minds still too.
