Being a decade older than you, you did not see Salming in the 70’s when he was in his twenties. He was actually underrated during this period and I will never forget the standing O he got in Canada Cup, one of the most moving things I saw as a six year old. There were also nights where he had the whole gardens chanting BJ due to some of the absolute inhuman plays. He is my number 1, just ahead of Clark and Sundin.
Matthews at #1 for me- oh sorry I thought it was for the least favourite of all time nevermind then.
Lidstrom said that Salming was his boyhood hero. That's all I need to know about his status in Swedish hockey history.

My #1, which never seems to make anyone's top 50, is Dmitri Yushkevich. He was a very similar player to Tanev. He was a great stay at home defenceman who would sooner eat a puck before letting a shot get past him.

Frederik Anderson's time with the Leafs was a microcosm of what the team is today – extremely talented and effective in low pressure situations; magically disappearing in high pressure situations.
