  1. No Views in 2 minutes. Didn't have to look at the thumbnail to know it was an Islanders vid

  2. The Isles should spend a couple of seasons retooling to improve their line-up. They're reasonable in most facets of the game, but could use some star power to drive the team towards constant playoffs and eventually contention. A few steps back rn for a leap in the future could be huge.

  3. I dunno Shannon, both ways you pronounce the Russian players are better than the letter salad I would spew. So job well done.

  4. This line up sucks. Then again I say that every year about the Islanders and some how they make the playoffs and even worse get to the ECF's with bare assets. This team looks like it needs a full reload. Sucks for Roy. He isn't going to want them to tank and then if they do it will be his fault. No win situation. Either don't get high draft points and get fired or get high draft picks and get fired. So they are winning the cup. How they are using up that much money for this low end talent at the NHL level. Should have around 10 to 15 million of cap space.

  5. They are free from the boring Lou. They mostly need a youth infusion and they are getting that with Schaefer. However, they are just starting. 6th in the Metro with 81-86 points.

  6. ISLANDERS FAN HERE (Going to go over the video with timestamps):

0:30 I think they're trying to make playoffs, but they understand it might be a couple year process. Barzal said as much in an interview he just did.
1:15 I think the top 6 and bottom 6 isn't set in stone for this team, honestly – we're not top heavy at all but man if guys stay healthy like we haven't been in years – its quite deep.
    1:50 I love Shabanov, I think he'll start in the top 6.
2:30 with the cap rising, a lot of our bad contracts in a couple years are guys who either won't be here/retired or will be traded.
3:08 Our defense has been terrible the last few seasons Shannon, I think there's a huge misconception that we're still a defensive team, we really aren't…they've given up some of the worst chances amongst the league over the last 2 seasons. Schaefer might help sooner rather than later but even with Dobson we've relied massively on goaltending. Sorokin is second in GSAx over the last 2 seasons only behind Hellebuyck.
4:20 CORRECT, SOROKIN IS OUR BEST HOPE AT PLAYOFFS.
11:14 Lou had been running our special teams over the last few seasons, so you can expect something better than horrendous at some point more than likely
11:53 Feels like a re-tool for sure, but it also feels like we can be really good very soon.

Love your stuff buddy, keep it up.

  7. I'm a bit more bullish than most people. The Islanders were one of the few teams more injured than the Canucks were last year. If they just had an average number of injuries last year, then they could have made the playoffs last year. They were 9 points back, so they would still have struggled. They also have a couple of players who will likely bounce back a bit, so they should at least be in the Wild Card race.

  8. Owners are SOOOO lucky that top pick fell in their lap. This team deserves banishment to the mushy middle for a good while. We shall see.

  9. DeAngelo and Drouin are both good on the powerplay and don't provide much even strength; dead last on the powerplay is not acceptable again this season.

  10. They look like a fading playoff bubble team, but may see some rejuvenation from all their new facial hair. With the madness of this season's compressed schedule, their solid defensive game and Bo taking nearly everyone's faceoffs could let them squeak into the playoffs.

  11. Let's go Islanders! Darche has a done a great job with the retool already. Prospect pool from worst to top 10. Still 2-3 years away. Don't want playoffs and get another high end prospect. Trade away aging players. Future is bright!

  12. I think Eklund is signed, at least thats what the swedish papers are saying, and then Djurgarden in the swedish league (SHL) has lent him from Islanders. A similar deal was made with Frondell with his team in the NHL. The expectatations are that both players play one more season in sweden and then go to their NHL organizations, in NHL or more probably to start with AHL.

  13. The Islanders motto since the days of Jack Capuano has been "low event hockey" so it's fitting the Islanders as a low event team, their preview video is only 12 minutes, LOL. If Sorokin stays healthy they won't be the worst team in the league. If he gets hurt, they probably will be. (Hey, there's a good trivia question in there: Q: Who's the only ex Canuck to coach the Islanders?

A: Jack Capuano. Of course they also had an ex-Canuck as GM but I won't say who that was.)

  14. Ownership wants playoffs because they're desperately trying to sell tickets….Darche is in retool mode while trying to sell the Islanders as a team to come out and bring the family. As a fan and longtime season ticket holder, I want the retool to kick into high gear, still a lot of players to be moved. It won't be easy saying goodbye to players like Cizikas, Lee, Pageau, Pelech and others…but it needs to be done.

  15. Should be a decent jump pointswise. They were incredibly injured last year. Now they have much better depth up front as well
