    We are so back! I'm entering my 20th season as a fan and this is the most amped up I've been in years for an upcoming season. Darche has completely changed the culture over night and I'm sure the on ice results will reflect that. Not saying they're going to win the cup but boy would I love to be proven wrong. I think we're going to make a lot of noise this year and Darche has definitely set up our future to continue doing so. LGI!!! 🟦🟧

    This video you can truly see how he wanted to get Hagens and you can see Darche's frustration a bit hearing Boston say they were gonna take him. Shows to me he tried. Also loved how much they were excited to get Aitcheson and Eklund. Loved this inside look. I… never thought we'd get this with the team. To really get an inside look at my team and that whole draft was a real treat. Thank you guys so much for this video. LETS GO ISLANDERS

    As an Isle’s fan, If you didn’t get goose bumps watching this, then you’re not a fan. I was just as psyched as Trent Klatt that Eklund and Aitcheson were available at 16 & 17. I was hoping the Isles would get Aitcheson at 11 when they were in that slot in the draft, watched a lot of his highlights prior to the draft and thought that’s exactly the type of dman we need.

    Once they moved up to 1, I never thought they’d have a chance at 17 to get Aitcheson. While watching the draft, I NEVER thought Eklund would fall to 16. I just kept hoping they’d do the smart thing.

    At 16, in my head I kept saying, pick Eklund, pick Eklund. Then when they did that, I screamed. Same thing at 17, I did the same thing, take Aitcheson, take Aitcheson, and when they did, I screamed again. Add in that I was hoping they’d take Schaefer at 1, and it was one of my favorite nights as an Islander’s fan.

    I’ve been an Isle’s fan since 1975, and a NHL draft fanatic since 1980, there’s no guarantee all 3 will be good to great players, or possibly even all 3 busts, but the Isles did the right thing that night in the 1st round. Schaefer was the consensus #1 player, and Eklund/Aitcheson were rated higher than 16/17. The Hockey News had Eklund at 7 and Aitcheson at 9. So they wound up getting great value at 16/17. This is probably my favorite 1st round ever for the Isles, and like I said, been following the draft deeply since 1980. And not to sound too homer ish, but I loved what they did in later rounds in the 2025 draft.

    Loved this video, I’m glad Klatt kept pushing to keep 16 & 17 and picking Eklund and Aitcheson. I feel Eklund is going to be a top 6 forward with great speed, hands AND compete level despite his size. And Aitcheson, some have compared his style to Scott Stevens, if he can be half the player Scott Stevens was, I’ll be thrilled.
