1. To many people are putting to much on that game. It’s a rookie game not the Stanley Cup final just chill out. It’s so annoying Oilers fans complain so much.

  2. Marjala. A name not on anyone’s mind until last night. Clattenburg also brought the fire. Savoie looks fast.

    Jonsson was a disappointment.

  3. You and I have gone back and forth but I'm telling you again: Ike Howard is not making this team. Skinner was a healthy scratch for like 10 games because of his 2 way game last year. Ike doesn't even have a 1 way game yet. We better pray he checks his ego at the door

  4. No need to discuss, my dollorama crystal ball says not one rookie will make the NHL roster this year

  5. What’s worse is this:

Not only is it behind a paywall, but try to watch the same game on-demand right now. I can’t find it.

I was in attendance there last night and I would like to watch the broadcast version and I cannot even find it. It’s like it doesn’t exist. I can’t find it on the Flames website either.

  6. I was at game last night, three stars they announced
    First: Matt savoie
    Second: some flame guy
    Third: Marjala
Also they didn’t show SOGs on jumbotron either lol, there are stats guys in the penalty box area, not sure why they didn’t track

  7. I saw Howard in person, he looks like Jeff skinner in the finals out there. Floating around, just looking at his teammates trying to score and score only. no defense whatsoever ever lol
He did look better in their period, when he moved his feet keeping up with savoie.

  8. I’m tearing up Jonnson’s rookie card like Sinead O’Conner did with the pope’s (or like AH did with someone’s…)

  9. Quinn Hutson will 100% be a future Oiler with that final goal in the 3rd period with just seconds left.

Ungar will probably start Sunday’s game and you know what, I genuinely hope he surprises me.

One thing people do not realize here is that, while true that Samuel Jonsson only let in 4 goals during those first two periods resulting in a 4-1 deficit. During the third period when Josh Banini was subbed in for Jonsson, Banini let in two goals within 10 to 15 seconds of each other in the 3rd period. That is what lead to the Oilers lagging behind 6-2. Throughout the third period, not only did the Oilers scored those three goals making it 6-5 (1 goal deficit) with 2.0 seconds left, but Banini BARELY faced any shots. Even ignoring that, his form and play style looked TERRIBLE out there. The point here is, if Jonsson was in net during the 3rd period, those two goals would have not gone in whatsoever and the Oilers would have won 5-4……UNBELIEVABLE!

I will say, while Samuel Jonsson didn’t have that good of a game himself, but neither did Own Say (the Flames’ goalie who got completely lit up in the third period and had a worse goals against average than Jonsson) and especially not Josh Banini. In other words, Samuel Jonsson needs some development time in the AHL before making over to the Edmonton Oilers full time. Banini needs time in the ECHL before even touching AHL ice let alone ice from the NHL.
