I think it’s incredibly stupid when people say that the players union wants McDavid to make a max deal. This doesn’t benefit other players at all. In fact, if Connor takes less, that means there is more cap for other players. I’m sure the NHLPA would like more players paid vs just one making a huge sum
So after September 15th I don't think 8 years is available anymore. I'm not sure if max term is 6 or 7 (think it depends on if you're drafted in a city or not). Connor will figure out what Connor (and Lauren) are going to do when they figure it out. While a lower Cap hit would be great I'd rather have an extra year or two of term with a little higher Cap hit. Just saying.
One player does not win the Stanley Cup by himself – Bouchard should have also taken a discount. And wouldn't that just frost Kaprisov off, if McDavid signs for less than what he was offered by the Wild (karma).
