Thank you so much for this video. I'm a huge Panthers fan but only became so after starting out by watching a Panthers/Stars game in 2023 and thinking it's great how well this team seems to mesh and the overall teamwork compared to the other teams.
Hate them for what…being successful? I remember their early years when they were very competitive and then made the Finals. Then there was a LONG period of irrelevance w/ few exceptions (Bure's seasons were a highlight among other individual accomplishments) but thanks to Zito's efforts and some tap-dancing around the NHL's cap rules…well, we all know the results.
I'd like to be "hating" my team (Buffalo) for becoming even CLOSE to what Florida's done in recent years. 90-plus points and a possible berth instead of out of things by New Year's Day would be a nice start (not just one teasing year then splat back to the drawing board.)
80% of the "Panthers are dirty" is Sam Benett. Although every team needs an enforcer. I'm a Capitals fan and Tom Wilson is employed by them. It's more so, I hate the refs, who just never call anything. Like these people don't have eyes.
I hate the entire Tkachuk family so much that, as an American, I pulled for Canada at the 4NFO and will at the Olympics, too. All the other reasons are nothing to me. It's just a Tkachuk thing.

Honestly Dangle I feel like is the biggest reason for this. He spent the entire last playoffs making video after video about campbell, taxes, and stolarz. He brought up Stolarz in the last video I saw him do about the panthers like a week or two ago. If not for him, the hate wouldn't be nearly as bad
The collective dislike is inevitable, with the way they play and their success… any argument against it is rediculous, its the modus operandi of being a sports fan

THG obviously knows more about hockey than me but I just can't 100% agree with this take. Tax free states aren't THE issue but they are AN issue. LTIR wasn't THE issue but it was AN issue. The Panthers don't get let off all of the time but they do seem to get a few easier calls from DoPS than other teams. People got mad about Bennett injuring another goalie more and more as his dirty play paid bigger and bigger dividends but ALSO because of mass hysteria. I'm not trying to trash his take and I think Shannon brings much-needed sobriety to the topic but I feel like there is a bit more nuance to be had. I will say, THG sees the crazy side of hockey takes way more than me though so we have different perspectives.
if you think the department of player safety is horrible, look no further. Colin Campbell is a cheat and he didn't get "fired" from his position in 2011, he actually got promoted to over-watch the hockey operations, including DPS. Shanahan tried to change things after him but Campbell "removed" him and put his goons in place. The fact that George Parros still has the position show he has total control. it's one of the things that repulse me as a hockey fan and we can't do nothing about it. they ignore social media. that's why they can't sell the game either.

I like a rough game.
I even like the occasional fight.
That's not the problem with the Panthers.
It's obvious to anyone who has played or watches a lot of NHL hockey (including you, Shannon) that the Panthers engage in a consistent pattern of attempting to injure opposing players, and whatever the reason, DoPS lets them off easy for it.

This modern look for hockey is so much better. Near zero future stars get their career ended early, nobody has any life long injuries, stuff gets noticed more and the league looks way more refined, respectable and not nearly as rachet. People who say otherwise don't know what they are talking about and don't really care about safety or care for others.

As a panthers fan that has now been limited to only being able to interact on twitter, it makes it so annoying that people keep using the DoPS argument to invalidate anything they do. It’s also so annoying hearing people say that panthers fans have only been watching for 2 years. Me and most of my twitter keyboard warriors have been fans for at least since 2017. I have been a fan since 2011 and I have never looked back.

Our team was irrelevant for nearly thirty years. Crappy ownership, crappy management and sprinkle in a rare playoff appearance here or two. Nobody wanted to play here, if you were drafted here, you wanted to find your way out as quickly as possible.
So now, NOW that our team has finally found our way, has found success and, not just a flash on the pan success, SUSTAINED success, you think we really give a crap what fans of other teams think of us? Of our team?
