A lot on walman just like the nurse contract, walman is a stud compared to nurse though. Why not dial back that money on walman and used the rest for a REAL goalie lol!!!

Knobby has to get more out of the youngsters..not just bury them in favor of vets. Developing young players raises the overall trade capital of the team…otherwise knobber is just taking advantage of having good players.
Everyone hype about the 2 years but if the Oilers mess up by overpaying or a huge signing that doesn't pan out he is almost guaranteed to leave after these next few years. Either way glad he's back just would rather longer term even if it costed a kings ransom.

Stauffer, I love you, but the D is not as good as you think. Ekholm has fallen off a lot, Nurse goes and disappears in the playoffs and the 6th and 7th Dmen aren't good in Emberson and Stetcher. Is there a legit top 6 winger on this team when Hymsn is out? Draisatl being a centre? Like these might be the worst wingers in the league.
Did this guy just get saucy? There's a time when McDavid and Draisatl won't play 20-22 minutes a game???? McKinnon is older, playing 24. 20-22 is normal now for cap teams now because the talent is so top-heavy.

I suspect Ekholm will extend something like three years at $4 million per season. The Oilers will contend this season and be incredible next season when Howard and Savoie are a year older, and the Oilers have the cap room to pursue a Grade A goalie. McDavid taking a massive discount will create around $8 million in cap room to get a goalie. With the Islanders in rebuild mode, maybe it's Sorokin.
Ok now …serious question, does Bob ever smile?! There was an attempt at around the 30 second mark that resulted in a smirk over his "102%" confidence that McDavid would re-sign, but that was it. Jack has Louie DeBrusk doubling over several times a game with his commentary but he can't make even a hairline crack in granite Bob! 😄😂
I’m kind of tired of them working Nurse into the conversation as though he is such a meaningful piece of our team. Like who are they trying to convince with all that? Not when you have guys coming in and doing what he does, and sometimes better at a fraction of what he costs. Like I don’t dislike Nurse, but this is a cap conscious league and I expect results to match the salary. With players like Mcdavid and Draisaitl on your team, you better be damn well overachieving regularly as an expectation.
However, what isn’t helping him JACK MICHAELS, is the unintentional (but intentional) forcing him on us as a key member of our team. He is not, key members don’t play like that come play off time dude.

Tbh Nurse isn't as bad as everyone thinks ya he isn't a number 1dman or maybe even a number 2 dman. But he is a damn good number 3 on any team in the league. Sure His cap is a million or 2 too high. But as the cap is going up every year his deal is now Looking like a 6 million dollar player 5 years ago which isn't so bad. Hes 6'4 very physical skates well and is a good defender. He averages 25 min a night playing against the opposing teams top players So he is bound to make a give away or 2 a game. Hes been averaging almost 40 points a season the last 7 years without pp1 time. Also averages around 160 hits and 160 blocks the past 7 years. And he also is about +90 plus minus the past 5 years. I don't know I could be wrong but to me if we lost nurse our d will be looking pretty weak. Ekholm is also 35 turning 36 he will be out in a year or 2 which gives room for Nurse Walman and Kulak on the left side. We need a right shot shutdown stud and we're golden.
I think its also a sign of respect and gratefulness towards his franchise for making it as comfortable as can be for him
I feel he left money and room on the table for a goaltender that is undisputedly top of the league to walk into a great contract as we have three goaltenders coming to free agency at the end of the season.

Great signing for the Oilers! McDavid is a man of his word…… he wants to win in Edmonton. His contract gives the Oilers an opportunity of a lifetime to bring the cup home. I’m not really surprised with “His” contract….. it’s all about the team….. now if this doesn’t inspire every individual on the bench to bring their “A” Game, every night, I don’t know what will. This man just gave his soul to the Oilers for the next 3 years. He will win the cup in Edmonton, then he will pursue a contract of a magnitude never imagined for a hockey player, whether it is Edmonton or elsewhere in the league. McDavid knows money can’t buy the cup, good players win cup. When he wins the cup they will pay him then. Why is he the best player , because he just showed us , he’s, also a very good human being. How many players in any sport has done what he just done. You think his team mates don’t know what he just done, they will bust their butts for him.
Why didn’t Draisaitl and Bouchard take a pay cut? Don’t they want to win the cup?
As I said before Edmonton will not with the cup with McDavid. They have been there twice with the first being the best. second time they were not even close. When you have a cap of 90M and you pay 50M to 3-4 players you get very little from the rest, Except a bad attitude.
