  1. Honesty the OT goal was gonna be a 2 on 0 if he didn’t go out he just hesitated which is fair enough since the puck is at the blue line I honestly think most goalies in the nhl would’ve been scored on there whether they took the 2-0 or played the puck really worse that 3 tired ot skaters got caught behind the puck

  2. You have to bench the goalie send them to the AHL, trade cut him I don't care that was horrendous those mistakes were so bad.

  3. Played well, but just an absolutely BRUTAL way to lose to our arch rivals. I've watched over 2000 Sharks games in my 31 years on this planet, 300+ in person and never seen the puck hit the jumbotron and definitely not see an empty netter missed and then followed by a fluke dump in goal and then an empty netter in OT. That might have been the most wild course of events in sharks hockey to lose a game.

  4. That’s a fitting way to lose a game for the Sharks. It’s in the history of San Jose.

Celebrini also knows a thing or two about losing, whether it’s in men’s worlds, juniors, NCAA or NHL.

  5. One game! Stuff happens. Felt great about the Sharks tonight. Pleasantly surprised! Interested to see Misa and Dickinson in there. Let go of the fact that we the fans are dying for a win. Sharks are much improved.

  6. Coming into the year i wasn't worried about Ned's ability to read a play and playing the puck. But after this game…. woof…. the 3rd goal was rough but if he just stayed in his net and used his stick to contain the puck behind the net then he would have been in a better position for that one.
And the overtime goal…. just what the hell were you doing at the bloody blue line in overtime?!?! Your the bloody goalie! Your job isn't ment to be at the blue line….

  7. It was a very entertaining game and we got some confidence for sure. Sharks worked really hard to chase the puck on the board, which made Hertl a dirty player as he was visibly frustrated.

  8. My biggest observation is that they won the race to the puck a lot, or they fought for the puck in the corners better. Just maintaining control of the puck in those battles was something you could tell they have been focused on during the off season. Being tough!

  9. Gutted by this loss but something felt different last night. They didn’t just hang around with the knights they outplayed them. That was one of the cleanest games they’ve had in 6 years.

  10. 95% of the game we looked solid! That last 5% hurt and falls on Ned. Little to Eklund for not burying, the empty netter and fumbling the puck in OT leaving to the odd man break

  11. I take issue with your opening headline, "New Year, Same Sharks". That's a bad call. The Sharks played competitively the whole game. The main difference being in the 3rd period where they would've rolled over last year, last night they fought back and if not for the blown play by Nedeljkovic we'd be talking about a win. The lineup is still in flux and once the chemistry develops with everyone the Sharks will prove to be a tough out. This will not be the same Sharks.

  12. Starting Nedeljkovic for the home opener is coaching malpractice. Just unbelievable. Misa and Dickinson are one thing with the 9 game situation but how the hell do you bench Asky here. The results speak for themselves.

  13. Didn't have a problem with him playing the puck at the blue line – it was going to be a breakaway or a 2 on 0 if not. What I have a problem with is being noncommittal about it. If you make that play, you can only make it quickly, without any hesitation. Now the tying goal…

  14. I love Macklin, but the only negative thing I have is he needs to get the puck on net and force the goalie to make a save too many times he misses the net completely

  15. Rookie mistake honestly. But leaving your crease that far is a no no!!! He's not the 1st Sharks goalie to lose in this fashion. We seen it before. Im not gonna be pissed over one game, one mistake.

Cuz mistakes happen and were human. We not a harsh fanbase like Toronto, who drove Marner out with their craziness!!! *Moving on

  16. JD, this game was painful to watch at the end. Like you surmised, a few bounces or breaks the other way and we're looking at a 4-2 win or a shootout.

But on the bright side, this season opener was better than last season's opener, when we blew a 4-1 lead in the 3rd period. That was more unforgivable than this game vs Vegas.
