  1. What a perfect way to start the Sens season with a win. The vibecast was great as always. Pinto, Tkachuk, Zub & Sanderson standout players from last night's game. I really like Eller's game he's a solid 4th line center. When Batherson is back I can see him back on that 2nd line with Perron and Cozens and Amadio moving down to right wing 4th line with Eller and Cousins then when Kleven eventually gets back on that 3rd pair rock solid depth through the lineup. Great start let's keep it rolling. GSG! I'll also say scratch Matinpalo next game and put in Spence see how he works out with Sebrango on that bottom pair

  2. I don’t think the question is, does pinto deserved to get paid (of course he does duh), but more of a “is Cozens the right fit moving forward and is Chabot a luxury with the emergence of Yakemchuk coming?

Money has to move out first before we even begin Pintos extension.

  3. Spence is too small & too soft & Matinpalo doesn't bring enough offence to be everyday NHL defencemen. I expect within the next two months we will see a new & improved Yakemchuk pass both Spence & Matinpalo. I think he is already better now than both those guys & is in Belleville to learn how to be an everyday NHL player. I would much rather go into the playoffs with Kleven & Yakemchuk on the 3rd pairing than either Spence or Matinpalo.

Pinto deserves $7 mil X 7 yrs or 8X8 that takes him to 32 yrs old which means he might sign if he can still play by then for another couple of yrs at a team friendly extension. It also assures we keep a good player long term if we lose another core piece. What is great about this team is that the core continues to expand with Tkachuk, Stutzle, Cozens, Batherson, Pinto, Greig, Sanderson, Chabot & Kleven. I also think Yakemchuk will eventually become part of this core & I'll add Zetterlund if or when he starts putting pucks in the net consistently like a top six winger should although I'm noy sure he ever will again.

If Zetterlund does not work out on the top line why wouldn't they consider moving Cozens to RW on that top line & promote both Pinto & Greig to the 2nd line especially given Giroux & Peron's careers are winding down? Eller & Cousins could also be at the end of their careers as could Jensen. Staois needs to find either through trade that doesn't cost much or through free agency which costs no assets to fill that 3rd line LW spot with a playmaker/goal scorer & find a 4th line which they might have internally.

    Tkachuk – Stutzle – Cozens
    Greig – Pinto – Batherson
    ??? – Halliday – Zetterlund

  4. And I would agree that the 3rd line D pair was the one weak spot last night. I love Eller on the 4th line. Centre depth is crazy on the Sens

  5. If I'm looking at the team, and I understand Greener plays strategies not lines, I'm saying that Pinto's agent can argue he's a top 3 forward on the team. 1C, 2C, 3C, or Ceci… doesn't matter, he's an L1 guy. I'm not saying he jumps Batherson completely, in terms of contracts, but hardball, if you lose Bath, you've lost a great L2 player, if you lose Pinner, you lose your PK, you lose your Center — Travis has a harder time filling those minutes. As Steve though… I think he's done a good job shoring up the 3rd line — Grieg and Giroux are more than competent at running it if Pinner is either on another line or another team. You also have to think that Bath is going to have great year, as well as Rich Cozens. He's also got Greener playing other forwards on the PK… it's not like there isn't blockers in between Pinto and a blank cheque.

I've always thought of Shane as a Stud 3rd liner who doesn't shine well with his spotlight opportunities. Brady is a big time player because he does all that under pressure. Timmy has been C1 for years and you can't replace that experience with just a hot stick. I'm an og DB hater but the dude can score on a power play, Pinto I'm less confident. The PK is a high pressure situation but there's no pressure to score — you don't even get the dash when you get scored on.

What I will say is watching Pinto play feels like watching wrestling when you're a kid. Nothing gets me out of my chair like a Pinto Point — it's like the Undertaker's entrance music plays when I hear that goal horn. We CAN'T lose starts bouncing around my head. I didn't even care that they took his goal back, I was too busy pointing at the screen shouting puck don't lie! As a fan, he's incredible to cheer for, but I think his role on a team isn't as a top dog. Shorthanded goals are phenomenal because you don't expect them, but as a 2C, or 1C even there's an expectation to perform which is why we are so hard on players like RichCoz, or Ullmark.

Does he want a role on a winning team or does he want that bag, and his own club. I'm confident that Brady will stay at the end of his contract because he wants to be the Captain of a team, he wants to have an impact on the legacy of a team, and he sees himself a leader in a community not just as multimillionaire. Other fans don't know that about him so they think he would just walk away from all that — they don't know him (and what do I know, lol). With Pinto I don't know. I think his goal has been trying to get to top line for so long that if it isn't happening on this team he'll want to look elsewhere but maybe under Travis Green he finds that winning feels better than what his position looks like on daily faceoff. Something around the 7×7 mark doesn't feel wild.

  6. Norris: I made the mistake of getting his jersey after he signed his contract. He was immediately injured and didn't play the season. Then he missed some of the next. Then he got traded.

Hammer: I like him as a person and from what I hear of him off the ice (good team guy). But damn, it's time for him to hang them up.

  7. 7 for 7.5 would be a steal for the Sens. Pinto is an amazing player. Real ones know he is for real. I am praying he has a monster season and signs long term.

  8. The main reason i want the german on the wing is actually very logical. Maybe not full time, but he needs to be able to do it for this. With 3 mins left in a game, down by 1 or 2. I want 2 lines playing and shane pinto needs to be put into the top 6 in this scenario. The german is not a faceoff guy. Cozens and pinto are faceoff winning guys. Best players need to be on the ice. Brady-Pinto-Stu
Batherson-Cozens-Zetterlund needs to be the 2 lines that play these last 3 mins. May as well have the german learn wing well enough before we get to the playoffs to do this.

  9. I'm disappointed a Pinto extension didn't happen in the off-season.
I personally believe we are seeing the beginning of 1 of the best 2-way defensive players in the game.
The franchise has a unique opportunity here. They can offer an 8-year deal, continuing the long-term lockup of the core.
The way their salary structure is kept in a tight range for the core, an offer in the $7 million, comparable to Cozens.
This also continues showing the belief and investment of young players, where I hope 🙏 that all these players will remember when it's time to re-sign.

  10. Is anyone besides me curious about a Jensen extension?
It's taken so long to bring out the best of Chabot, that I don't want to have to go through that again.

  11. I’m happy with anything under 8×8 for Pinto. He makes the players around him better. That’s the most important thing a player can do. I’d be very happy with Brandon’s contract parameters

  12. I hope I’m wrong but Pinto may not want to sign here, Another American guy may want to play at home…. Hope he at least élevâtes his stock for an Awesome return, if he does sign however I would be very happy!

  13. 7.7 7 years… he’d have a hard time turning that down… personally I’d offer 8.8 x 8… as goes Shane, so go the Sens… he is a boss…

  14. You want to get Timmy’s shot going, put him on the wing and put pinto in as a centre. Pinto is more effective than Zetterland in my opinion and Pinto should be getting that extra ice time. Then have G centre the 3rd line

  15. You guys got Nylander’s contract history off, he held out in 2018-19 and got a $7Mx6, his $11.5 million AAV came later.

  16. Agree with Pillzy, a 7 year deal in the mid $7MM range would make a lot of sense
