  1. If the leafs want to win a cup the first period is where you try drain the other team with hits so that in the second and third period they will have more legs than their opponent. Unfortunately I’ve never really seen the leafs ever to do it

  2. A win is a win, but I counted at least 9 moments where a Leaf had possession in the D-zone, under little direct pressure & failed to get a clear. That will bite you, although it only cost them 1 goal in this game. That was Carlo with a pass option to Maccelli who decided to lob it out instead. It was knocked down by a Ranger high stick & instead of letting it fall to the ice where it would've been blown dead, he tried to bat it out. That resulted in yet another D-zone clear fail & turnover, then the Ranger's only goal. Matthews, Nylander, Tavares, Maccelli, Domi, Tanev, Benoit & Knies also had D-zone clear fails. The officiating was once again notably sub-standard with multiple missed calls, including the failure to blow the whistle when Stolarz's mask came off.
