Not until they fall into the bottom 5 for a couple of seasons. The perpetual "re-tooling" has been such a massive failure.

The Flames had Iggy and Kipper for their primes and never got anyone to play with them, it's a sad life watching the Flames screw up everything over and over again, the 80s Flame's were a powerhouse and it's been 3 fluke seasons in the last 35 years and never ending disappointment.

Well if I'm GM Conroy…..I'd sell off the left over talent (Anderson, Khadri, Weegar, Huberdeau etc…the big contracts…) for picks and have fun with the kids. Have a great first round draft and if they want to buy in 2026 offseason….. I doubt that….when a trade happens players will want to come to a brand new building with a young core ready to be a contender imho……next year to tank wound benefit the Flames again if it means early draft talent. Please no more picking 14 ..16th over all!!! The coilers are old now so last kick at the Cat's for them eh? lol
1-6, is a great start. Calgary needs to bottom out. The fact that it is actually happening is great.
You can't be no. 1 without having a no. 1, or several high end picks. The Pens have done it twice in 20 years, bottom out and get Lemeiux and Jager, that championship team wins, then it runs it course and they bottom out again and get Crosby and Malkin. Repeat results.
Flames continually end up finishing either just out or out of the playoffs, hence they always draft 14 to 19, do that year after year and guess what happens after 10 years? That's where they end up. The Flames are hopefully going to break that cycle this year. Flub Flames Flub…
