Why would we trade for a literal clone of nick robertson? He actually is the same – not better just literally the same.
You want to give up a 30 goal scorer, your words, for a 4th liner at best…what's the big deal??? He's taller, but then again we have Carlo at 6'5" who plays like a guy 5'6"…this is just a 1 for 1. Chinakov hasn't done dick. So, why would they phase him out, it's the Blue Jackets!?!? Not the 79 Montreal Canadiens, lol. Sorry about the sarcasm but let's pump the brakes a bit. No way!!!

Certainly these are two guys with similar trajectories.
At some point you will have to cut Robertson. Sure trade him and give him a chance elsewhere and try Chinakov. Columbus is deeper than Toronto so I don't know Robertson gets more time there.

Leafs had two failed Nicholas Robertson trades in summer one was with Sharks and other was with blue Jackets that from Elliotte Friedman sources
Robertson for Kadri. Stolarz for Hymann. Cowen for Tuck
I wouldn't do that trade – more cap for a similar player. Robo needs a consistent chance, he's small but he is playing hard, back checking, tossing the body and a sweet shot. Just scored too on Line 1
If they trade him stick him on the top line and let him rack up a buncha points with Mathews to raise his value and go after an actual top 6 forward

Robertson doesn’t work in the leafs system with Berube. Get value back trade him
Never have I been happier to live in Australia where I can watch all hockey games on Disney+! Having said that , I don’t know what the answer is. I get why Berube is moving the lines when they lose, but are they getting a real chance to settle in to them before they’re changed again? Laughton’s injury caused changes to what I thought looked like really good pre-season set-up. I like Robertson, but I’m not sure how long he’ll keep playing okay. He has a history of being up and down. Domi – he’s a backup centre not a permanent one, and being put in as one to cover injuries isn’t helping his game. He needs to remain as RW. I think if he was on the first line for more than one game, considering we really need Willy on the 2nd line, and give them time to get their groove happening would have a longer lasting benefit. While trades sound like a good idea, they add more chaos to lines that can’t settle in already. And seriously, Matthews needs to step up and get some goals – that’s his job!

To get rid of Robertson the Leafs will have to toss in a draft pick. Chinakhov is much bigger than Robertson and more likely to be a factor in the playoffs. So maybe Robertson and a 2nd round draft pick may get it done.
For a team that has robbed the league and stole players so much, according to you two, they sure suck.
Leafs need a player who has nasty in his game. A guy like Bunting who pulls other players into the fight.
