  1. As a homer pens fan I hope Jarry is off the team but it would be a bad trade on paper for the Oilers if he went there.

Skinner is bad but I don't see Jarry as the solution. Could be wrong but who knows…

  2. I think jarry and skinner are pretty much the same. They play the same way, just skinner is a bit bigger, but skinner style is the same as jarry they carry themselves the same way, they are both not bad goalies, when skinner is on he's top teir, same with jarry. I think jarry can do well with the oilers, he can be top 10 I think but as a pens fan, I dont want skinner, I'd say a 2nd round pick-and nhl prospect that's reason in exchange for jarry with 2 million retention

  3. For the Penguins that would be an insane robbery. Make the Oilers buy very high for a goaltender slightly better than Skinner, and they can bury or flip Skinner in another deal.

  4. If I’m the oilers I’m calling the Minnesota wild and asking what it take to get Wally. The wild just locked up gustavson. Get younger and potentially have a goalie for the next 12 years. Also should call the devils and ask what they want for shamus Casey.

  5. That would be a complete waste of a trade, Oilers might be desperate to make a significant change, but swapping almost like for like isn't going to be the fix they're hoping for. Remember what happened when they overpaid for Campbell after he had one decent season? Where is Campbell now?

Personally, i feel Oilers should've tried to get Silovs during the offseason, maybe for Pickard, or instead of Ingram. But it's likely they would've overpaid for him because it was a trade with the Canucks.

I think at this point they're gonna have to try and make do with what they have. Maybe see if they can't try to tempt Coffey back as defensive coach and see if that gives them a bump. Then when the deadline is approaching, see if any team unlikely to make playoffs is willing to part with a quality starter.

  6. What’s hilarious is the Oilers actually genuinely believe the goaltending is the problem. It’s the skaters. No one on that team plays defense. And that includes the golden child McDavid. Maybe Conor should behave like a pro and play defensive first hockey.

  7. Oilers could have a Prime Carey Price in their net, and still never get a Cup, because the players in front of the net can’t play defense.

  8. Skinner could go to a solid defense and be effective …very easily…. the window in Edmonton is turning.. Jarry could be a worse keeper than Skinner…. that wouldnt surprise most I dont think.

  9. Let me say this loud and clear. We as Penguins fans have absolutely zero interest in Darnell Nurse. This could all fall apart at any time, but as long as the Pens are within striking distance of a playoff spot Jarry's seat in goal is staying put. He drives me absolutely insane sometimes but he's still the best option in the room. Come talk to us again when we're 8 points out of the wildcard in February.

  10. Just to add to the Holloway / Broberg situation a little bit. Something people never mention. Broberg wanted out – and I don't blame him. He was a bonfafide NHL dman in his last year in Edmonton and proved it whenever they dressed him, but the Oilers decided that they needed to have more 'toughness' on their blueline so they put Vinnie Deharnais back there and played him. When Broberg played sparing he was a much better skater than Vinnie, a much better puck handler, a better cerebral player, and a much better passer. But he was a LH shot. By January he and his agent were demanding a trade and Holland and the Oilers were trying to move him – but the best offers they were getting back were for mid round draft picks. No way Holland was doing that. Playoffs came and Vinnie became unplayable – Broberg stepped in and given his lack of icetime in reg season was OUTSTANDING! But you think , for even ONE second – he was re-signing back here? Not a chance. He was even ready for the NHL the year before that but Oilers kept him in the minors the whole year. We (Oilers) offered him a contract but it was lowballed no doubt to the lowest we could offer to retain him and he balked as I would've. I heard St.Louis wasn't the only team to offer sheet him but they offered the most. I wish Broberg well and hated the old management (Holland) who purposefully did not play Broberg. Should never of drafted him if that's how they intended to treat him. Dylan Holloway – we could've matched him easily IF we hadn't of signed Jeff Skinner (that's another issue) but if anyone here thinks he would have 26 goals and 63 points playing 3rd/4th line most of year with next to zero PP time…I have beach front property along the North Sask I can sell you. If we had signed Holloway fans would've been bitching like crazy here "why did we sign Holloway to 2.2 million". Know what Holloway would of done? Look at his stats this year. 25 games – 6 goals, 6 assists and a -8 playing almost a minute more than least year (15:09 vs 14:21) and getting almost a minute more PP time (2:17 vs 1:36 last year). His last year in Edmonton he had a whopping :06 of PP time and 11 minutes average of ice time a game. And here in Edmonton, if you're not playing with McD or Drai, your job is to prevent goals, not score them – and if you mess that up you don't play. If you do play with McD or Drai and can't generate chances – you end up on the 3rd/4th line (where Holloway ended up). Those are the facts – I personally would've played Broberg over Desharnais except in games where I knew there would a lot of physicality – and Holloway I would've had him play with Drai more – Oilers are broken. I think the inmates are running the asylum.
