And we won't even bother mentioning that they had three….. THREE!!…. #1 overall picks in the five years immediately preceding his arrival (and a #7 and a #3). One of which is still around as a decent utility forward, one was traded away and the player we got for him is gone too and the third may as well have been my grandmother for all the good he was.

WTH??? Just because they haven’t won a title doesn’t mean it’s “wasted”! They’ve been to the past two finals, and lost to a very good Florida Panthers team, tbh I’m impressed with the Oilers, having two players making 30% to 50% of their cap makes it extremely hard to put the rest of the team together, so if anything I’d say aside from actually winning a title the team has had a ton of success, they just ran into a potential dynasty in Florida!
Umm the salary cap doesn’t go into effect until next season , so next year the oilers will have more money and they have no depth because the bottom six don’t get any ice time

Maybe a bit of Canadian bias, but it's interesting to see so many people make a thousand excuses for McDavid, but when Ovechkin hadn't won the Cup, he was to be blamed, not his team. Back then, according to many hockey pundits, Ovechkin was a bloated contract, wasting the team's chance to rebuild and win it all 😂 But God forbid we should think that McDavid isn't cut for the task to lead his team to a Cup.
