I heard Edvinsson's name mentioned in the possible Hughes trade with Vancouver. I'm really reluctant about trading this guy, as we are no where close to seeing his potential imo. Plus I believe his salary is pretty digestible for a few years. Is Hughes that much of a game changer?
The only people that should be terrified of the Red Wings are Red Wings fans because that's the only group they are actually a threat to. Hot and cold scoring, no blueline to speak of and all 18 guys are 100% committed to hanging the goalies out to dry every night. 6th in the division, 11th in the East.
Defense is a liability for the RW. They are -7 goal diff & goaltending hasn't been bad.
If they lose 1 game they're out of the playoffs. So why get so excited.
Hughes would be great, but I worry about what we lose to get him. I worry about that a lot.

"They are at the top of the division." Yesterday they were. Now after just one day they are 3rd. Saying you are the top of the division when you are only 7 points out of LAST place in the entire conference isn't anything special. They are lucky to be there considering they had a losing record in November. They've had some good games but they've had some god awful ones too. I like that the kids are starting to play and contribute and there are more coming but this team is pretty bipolar.
Part of me wants to give Cossa a shot now but Grand Rapids is having an historic start to the year. Let him play there and enjoy that. If someone gets hurt, sure call him up but let him stay on this run down there.
We aren't first anymore, we would be 3rd in most other divisions, and our goal diff is terrible. I love this team, and yzerman. We are not terrifying by any stretch of the imagination.
I wouldn't call the Wings "Scary Good". They are finally competitive and are moving in the right direction. Hopefully they don't move out too many prospects for a high profile trade.
I no longer want Hughes for what we would have to give up. Plus, and I'm NOT comparing them at present, but doesn't ASP get us SOME of what Hughes would give us?
