The inconsistency from this team is inexcusable. We need to get Bedard some help. The fact that no one retaliated after the blatant dirty cross check is unbelievable. Praying it’s not serious.
Obvious upper body as he got crossed checked in the arm. Hawks players should have pounded Schenn, but we don't have any tough guys. Scheen is now a goon, but they don't call him one. I live in St Louis and he's a dirty player. Scheen can't score anymore so hit anything that moves. Hawks were flat but we can't say anything since they are young and learning. No accountability for like 5 years now. I know, be patient. They will be good soon or one day again.
Bedard was definitely cross checked for no reason. This is the new nhl. There really seems to be a bias against Bedard. Many recent questionable against Bedard that have been game changing. No penalty?… the ref was standing right there. I’m not saying Bedard requires special protection but this is beyond the pale. Maybe there is a hidden rule in the nhl stating that it’s ok to intentionally try to end a players career. Bedard is tough. He’ll be back. Probably will be knocked out of team Canada consideration. However he’ll be back and I truly believe he will lead the Blackhawks to the Stanley cup before Celebrini.

I hope the coaches and Kyle Davidson take note of this event. This is not the first time it's happened this year. This goes back to the Nazar injury. With Foligno out and Colton Dach not feared enough, They need to add more snarl to this roster.

Just woke up to this, wtf! This is a total disgrace! All this bs talk about team culture and connection from the hawks players and in the upmost time of need they fail their franchise player! I can’t even bring myself to watch the highlights of this one. If he’s out for some considerable amount of time this team needs to answer for this. With Foligno out there is no protection and we set a standard for all other NHL teams to walk over our star players, what a joke!
Just accept the fact that there no playoff this season, i hope Bedard get well soon, and taking all that challenges like playing without Foligno and Bedard, will benefit this team as a learning process, its going to be painful and greasy but that will pay of next season.
If Bedard misses significant time, I might actually just go into full hibernation until next year. wake me up in October
Hawks need Brady Tkatchuck
Two guys who never played the game at any real competitive level and probably never been in a fight advocating retribution. Jay is a un athletic soy boy liberal. But I do agree there should have been a response but I guess nobody saw wha happened. The non response is a team issue and the damage was already done. Moving forward Hawks definitely need to send a message as a team Bedard is off limits during the regular season. The fact this happened shows other players and teams haven’t got the message and have no fear. The problem will be in playoffs in years ahead. You won’t be able to protect him like you can during the regular season. I just hope this is not a sign of things to come and Bedard will not be injury prone because he will take a beating because it will be the only way to stop hm.
Brand new Blackhawks fan and long time San Antonio Spurs fan here. Bedard missing a significant amount of time reminds me a lot of Wembanyama missing the last third of the season last year. It absolutely sucks for the duration of the injury. No getting around that; watching the Blackhawks won't be nearly as fun of an experience.
It will make the comeback season after a productive off-season all the more satisfying, though.

From the location of the hit and his reaction, I wonder if he separated his shoulder. Been there, and it’s no fun, but it could put him out for a few weeks. That greasy play wouldn’t have gone unanswered if Uncle Nick was on the bench. Ugh. I don’t think gloves should be thrown over every hit, but Shenn deserved a knuckle sandwich.

Maybe you have done this by now…. But watching on my phone, clips from all angles of the incident, I screen recorded it, slowed down playback speed, and pinched zoom in on every minute contact point. I also play hockey myself. A face off like that is going to most definitely be ‘ram’ like. Bedard dropped to his right knee for more leverage, his opponent, although using his stick in a cross checking posture, just went into him. It was a battle of leverage. Bedard is strong… but almost everyone has size over him. The impact would seem that he was ‘cross checked’ hard on the shoulder. The impact from the televised camera angle of the the face off, shows ‘impact’ on his left shoulder. However, it was Bedard’s right shoulder / arm he was clutching in pain. Even when the replays show other angles, it’s like, whatever… whatever impact happened, it was truly, as the Chicago coach has even stated already, a ‘freak’ accident. Not necessarily malicious, dirty, Brad Marchand, like attempts at ‘hurting’ someone. All the front blues players on the line even looked at him in concern… and like everyone else, were like what happened?? Bedard… or any spokesman for Bedard will most likely chime in with results soon. The weird thing that I’m wondering, is the excruciating pain that he appeared to be in. I was playing hockey and suffered an injury within the past two years now, where I simply whiffed on a shot??… and the tendon from the top of my shoulder, snapped causing my bicep to roll up like a living room blind. That hurt… the way Bedard’s face looked as he exited the ice. No gloves needed to be tossed off. There was no ‘flex’ going on by the blues. It just looks like a complete freak accident is all. And it’s not a lack of ‘bob proberts’ being present… it just wasn’t necessary especially in a time where there’s already a whole host of players riding dirty and causing punch ups for no reason. I hope he will heal quickly.
