  1. I think they should have the same point scoring as the PWHL. 3 for regulation win, 2 for OT win, 1 for OT loss and 0 for regulation loss. Side note, I’d love to see the jailbreak rule from the PWHL. Although it’ll never happen

  2. Go back to the 5 minute OT, leave it at a tie if it doesn't resolve. Keep the 3 on 3 though. Get rid of the bush league shootouts

  3. More overtime means more hockey so that's always good. The only downside is if it's hard on the players and there's more injuries as far as the rankings go. It's a very tight race to the playoffs and that's always a good thing as well. Go Knights go BTW more 4 on 4 in ot 3on3 is like you said a little possessive of the puck and can be drawn out

  4. Maybe your Sharks do not play keep-away, but I watch a lot of hockey and I have heard the home team fans BOO when one team has a keep-away going for well over 90 seconds in a 5 minute overtime. When I say keep-away I am referring to passing the puck at center ice and retreating to the defensive zone. The 3 point system is an improvement! No one likes the PKs in soccer, we need to eliminate the shoot out in hockey.

  5. Why is a draw NOT a "valid" outcome to a game? THAT is what needs to be addressed. Same for the No Fun League regular season.

  6. This is Bettman's dream! Parity rules according to him. The hard cap has created this, I'm not saying it's bad, but overtime needs a bit of a change. Much like the NBA with the over and back rule, the NHL should bring that in. In overtime, once you gain the opponents blue line you cannot take it back out without a shot on goal. If you do, it's blown down and a faceoff takes place in your defensive zone.

  7. Yes!!! There is too much overtime. OT, extra innings, etc., should be rare. If a sport goes to OT a third of the time then change is needed. In the case of NHL, that some games award 3 pts in total some games and 2 pts in others is a farce; it's fake parity!! Playing for a single point is weak and even a little cheap. After so many honest takes in other videos, it seems Brodie is playing a little dumb with this take.

  8. One thing I wish…..There should never be a point for a loss…even in OT….a loss is a loss….

  9. DO WE NEED TO CHANGE THE OVERTIME POINTS ISSUED?

  10. Just an idea……..if no score after one OT period the team with most shots on goal in the OT period wins. In OT the puck must contact the goalie or goal post to count as a "shot on goal"- not just shooting in the direction of the goalie/net or getting close. Maybe not perfect, but at least honors team effort instead of the shootout which honors individual luck from the shooters and goalies and a definite end after one OT period if no goals scored. If both teams somehow have no shots in OT, then another OT period same OT shot on goal rules.

  11. My main issue is that an overtime game is worth more in the standings (3 points) than a regulation game (2 points). There is an incentive to go to overtime. If a team would take every game to overtime and win half of them, they'd finish the season with 123 points! Last season, that would have won you the President's trophy with only a 50% win percentage. Making an OT game worth more than regulation warps the standings. That has to be fixed

  12. NO MORE OT FOR REGULAR SEASON! Three points for a win, one point for a draw (tie), none for a loss like association football.

  13. I've vented my spleen over this topic on THG's channel. Why do fans – and the league – get so apoplectic over the concept of a tie?… 😒…Why play any extra time at all? Just split the freakin' 2 points, 1 each, and move on! And the thing that really sticks in my craw is this "shooootoooot"… 😬…I've said it before. It's the worst Canadian invention EVER. Even worse than pulling the goalie and giving away close games…Since the caller's team is the league leader in overtime losses this year, I can see his profound concern. At 9 OTLs out of 13 OTs in 30 games, VGK would be on pace for 35 OTs with 25 OTLs this season over 82 games… 🤣…That's a near 3 extra games worth of play (albeit 3 on 3). Not including the shoootoooot. And yes, to Brodie's point. You are essentially resolving a tie game by playing an entirely different, and very lame game of shooting layups. Sticking with the basketball analogy, it's like settling a tie regulation game with a game of HORSE. Or PIG. "Oh, the players are tired! We don't want to force them to play too much extra time." Okay. So why do you? Just let 'em split the points and go home…Speaking of points. The current system is creating a mess statistically by creating games of unequal value. Some are worth the regular win 2 points, while others are worth 3. At the backend of it, this scheme rewards mediocre teams by issuing points for a loss. Ridiculous. And the shooootoooots are won on flukes and/or disparately by certain teams. And as your caller can attest to, the spread of teams continuously going to overtime is very uneven – WPG has played 3, VGK and LAK have both played 13…Quit punishing these players to satisfy your OCD compulsion to avoid tie games… 😬

  14. There is nothing wrong with a draw. There are good wins and bad losses. Same applies to a draw. Three points for a win and one for a draw. It would simplify the table also. A tie is something uncomfortable you have to wear at weddings and funerals
