  1. I agree though, he lost control and then it deflected off his skate..in regular play would’ve been a good goal, but the attempt is over when he loses control in the shootout

  2. So many casuals in this comments section, go watch soccer if you want to watch a sport where you can kick for goals. Learn to read the shootout rules, that has never been allowed. Why do you think it got waved off immediately?

  3. Key rules: the puck must stay moving forward, the shooter can't revisit rebounds.
Allen poke checks changing the direction of the puck
No longer moving it forward: no goal

  4. At the end of the day I guess I agree with the refs on this but its not cut & dry like some commenters are saying. He did not "lose control" of the puck in the shootout sense, nor did he kick it in or reverse the direction of the puck himself. The puck was knocked off his stick by the goaltender and then in one continuous motion it deflected off him and into the net. A legitimate argument could be made either way.

  5. There was no kick, but it also wasn't a controlled shot, it was a deflection. We can argue if we think it SHOULD have counted, but by rule it shouldn't. Personally i think that kind of result should be allowed, he made the move to deke and the goalies action resulted in the puck going in, could certainly argue that it should be a legal play.

  6. Why can’t u review if Allen poke checked it to his skate or if he even lost control at all?

  7. As soon as the puck doesn't have forward motion, the attempt is done. Doesn't matter if it hit his skate or not, the puck went backwards.

  8. Honestly, I’d personally rather the rule be, if the goalie poke checks the puck loose and it hits the player it is still a live puck as long as the player doesn’t intentionally guide the puck into the net.

Because let’s be honest, if a goalie is in stick check range, it’s extremely difficult for the player to react in time to guide puck

  9. This is the 5th attempt by Marner at the shootout for the VGK. Now 0 for 5. Marner is not a shootout guy but Cassidy keeps putting him in the shootout. He always gets too close in on the goalie and most of the time loses the puck off of his stick without a shot.

  10. What a plug , can't wait until Mitch retires and comes back to live in Toronto. Us passionate leafs fans are gonna be waiting outside his house
