That legendary puck hound shift Barkey had a week or two ago was one of the best shifts of any level of hockey ive seen in atleast a year. Barkey earned his cuppa, and stoked to see up to the task. I do think he's better off in the AHL getting top 6, pp, pk minutes every game. Is there a situation where Barkey plays to a level that makes it the right move to keep him up? Yea. With Tyson done for the year, there's a middle 6 role available. I don't think Grebenkin or Grundstrom have earned their spots yet. I'd rather see both on the 4th line with Abols and actually get some production from the 4th line, while giving Hathaway and Deslauriers situational or earned starts.
FREE TIM SAUNDERS!!!!!! First off the context is everything, but Im assuming he was saying that to fridge after the big goon dropped something. Also insane that he is in trouble while guys like Biz- who i love- talk about the most inappropriate sex and drug stuff on his podcast while rocketing up in (inter)national broadcast prominence. I've heard Biz tell his co hosts to do despicable things to every part of his body. Saunders has been the flyers guy for nearly 30y and has one joke on a hot mike and he is in hot water. If he gets fired, I will never listen to the flyers on the radio again…sorry Jason..with the previous caveat of context, like if he said this to an 18yo female intern who he has no rapport with while the kid's fixing cables under the desk..that would be a baaad look. But I can't imagine this is anything other than Saunders just busting balls of a buddy
Hey Jason, you guys talked about the fact that the acquisition of a 1C or 1D is pretty rare these days. Do you think that this relative dearth of talent is an Indication that there are too many teams in the league? Not enough top talent to go around. It seems to me that in the old days, (I’ve been watching hockey since 1973) practically every team had at least one or two really great players. Now with 32 teams, there just isn’t that much talent out there to make that happen. What are your thoughts?
Briere will be forced to make a major move….and trade these assets he has stockpiled. He has to give up quality and get a top pair D man and at least a young C with promise.

Injuries have been a part of the losses lately. Not having Forester playing, not to mention Vladar as well, means we are bound to lose games.
Frustrating to be stuck in this sinking situation, but we just dont have the high end talent contributing consistently, or at all. No 4th line scoring from Dlo and Hathaway also stinks.
sad thing is sam errson is alot like swiss cheese full of holes also they need to play 60 minutes 3rd period should be your best period

Its coaching for MM. Just like its coaching for players that are doing well. Just like the ducks better players are playing better with a different coach and the leafs better players playing worse with a new coach
Jason, you did a good job putting to rest this idea that Toxchet doesn’t like Michkov. Now you have to put to rest another false idea that Sam Etsson is a good NHL goalie. I have no doubt in my mind that if Vladar was playing the last two games the fFlyers would’ve walked away with four points. Erson just does not make that big save when his team needs it. Period.
No comments about Ersson, Jason? I find that a little bit hard to believe given we lost the game on Saturday entirely because of him. As you've noticed over the past few years, I am NOT a fan of Ersson. I don't think he's an NHL goalie at all, not even a backup goalie, and it's been mildly infuriating to see the Flyers put this inexplicable level of trust in him while not trying to explore literally any other options!? He's been SO bad for years now…don't believe me? He has a safe percentage over .900 in LESS than half the games he's played for us. That is absolutely insane, like embarrassing. He lets-in bad goals in almost literally every game he plays. If I'm Danny, I tell Tocchet to roll with Kolly as the back-up moving forward. It sickens me every time I see Ersson on the ice. Why no mention of his absolutely porous play Jason?
The league has to move to a 3 point for regulation win system so all games are worth 3 points.
Let me get this straight michkov has pts in 3 of last 4 has metrically been one of the best skaters on the team in those games the 1 penalty was he got pushed into the goalie not a stick penalty . Bouch even pointed out how good he looked out there. But now Because he got into it with coach on bench. Hes regressing. This is a joke. He’s the one that got scoring going vs rangers or we forget that.
Yeah their d is terrible (Toronto) but a bigger reason they haven't been winning is the lack of heart from some of their top players.

That should be the title of the end of the year recap video for this team. That phrase encapsulates everything that we are watching with this team. It is the core of what this coaching staff is trying to teach to this club.
Zegras was born attacking good ice, either with his feet or by passing the puck to that good ice. Thats why he looks so good. Barkey jumped off the screen yesterday because he goes hard to the good spots.
Drysdale is another great example. He is learning when to (and when not to) attack the play. He will make some costly mistakes but this is the year to learn/maybe make a few mistakes. It is important for the future.
On the down side of things, guys like Michkov and Konecny are trying to learn to play that way too. Both great offensive players but they tend to slow things up and attack individual players instead of going to and attacking good ice. It's a process that they will learn. It will just take some time.

I said two years ago trade Konecny and I dont change my idea , 8 years much too long contract espiecially for a 28 years old small winger. Too late no move clause probably
Defense win championship we need to improve that not physical defense with more skill
Between Drysdale, York and Andrea the only one I keep is Drysdale he's improve his game much better defensivly righthanded shooting , York and Andrea forget that
With guys like Barkey, Murchison, Gaucher, Grundstrom, Grebenkin, and many others almost SURPASSING people on the totem pole that were above them in terms of “readiness” or “veterans” – how much longer do you see guys like Kaplan, Bump, McDonald, Wisdom, And many others on the Phantoms roster that were “above” the few I mentioned at the top? Especially with Martone, Nesbitt, Bonk and Bjarnasson on their way up in the next few seasons?
Do you see some Phantoms wingers and some D packaged up for someone useful for the Flyers now? Fill the hole of Forester now or trade for some pieces that upgrade what we have?
Would you make a move with Buffalo to get Tuch and Byram or Power?
Or do you see another team potentially with two options that might fill short and long term holes? Is Zach Werenski with Columbus an option?

It looks like the transition game is still a little disjointed. I think the offensive dmen will start to bank more points when Tocchets system becomes 2nd natured for the guys struggling a bit. Konecny and Michkov are still looking a bit slow out there.
